Hang in!

And on that happy note, I am off to the gym in an attempt to maintain the vessel!

It does. However, doesn't seem to be any way around it for anyone. Sending good wishes, positive vibes and love to you ladies.

@LindaI have always struggled during the holidays. However, what I have found that makes it easier to get through is to be of service to others. The time of year is such a set-up, dominated by western consumerism with the (implicit) judgment that if we don't have the Hallmark family, we are somehow losers. Its easy to get caught up in the past, the "good old days." And aging is really difficult as we lose people we love along the journey. BUT we have quit smoking which is such a gift. I find it takes practice to remain in a good frame of mind. But its that same diligence that allows us to be free of the prison of smoking. Sending good vibes your way....K

I bought an inflatable grinch last year that hangs out in the front and leers at passersby. I haven't put it out yet since I am waiting for my neighbor to put up his inflatable Santa. I do have a string of lights in the house but otherwise way low-key here. Glad to hear there is celebration/healing for members of the QT.

@GusThank you-hope your day is wonderful.

That terrible fear that we can't survive without smoking gives way to the experience that not only can we survive but we THRIVE without smoking. This is such a gift....

Thanks everyone! Feels really good which is not how I experienced my previous quits. Think you all have something to do with it. Since we have no winter yet, I think I am going to jump on the bike and be grateful that I can breathe! Thank you again...

Nope.

That has got to feel really good. Congratulations and thank you for the inspiration!

Not to take away from everyones commitment and enthusiasm, including my own, but so that no one gets confused-Today is Wednesday. At least on my calendar! Wishing everyone a Happy and smoke-free December!

@intoxicated yodaand therein lies the rub! The big brain that goes round and round which is what got us into trouble in the first place.
-
Nope for the rest of today and into tomorrow!

Thank for you imbuing this site with such great quit energy and showing us how its done.

In the last few days, I have gone hours at a time not thinking about smoking or about not smoking. I can't wait until it is days at a time!

Yep. Really grateful to those who post when they are struggling. Nothing helps an addict like helping an addict.

This is not my first quit but it is the first time I have jumped into on-line support. Lurked about in 2005 which I am now realizing was the predecessor site in all likelihood. It makes a difference. I look forward to each and every person's comments. Even if they just do a "like" it lets me know I am not alone. There is a whole wave of support here to release that which no longer serves. Well, it never served; we just thought it did. Now armed with information and like-minded friends, we can hour-by-hour, then day-by-day, get free. Eventually, it won't occupy the same headspace which is such a relief. Thanks and have a great day.

I had that experience @Jryan19982 last week. Absolutely disgusted. So grateful for that moment this early in my quit of almost two months (4 years in the making!). Thanks for showing up to encourage us newbies.

I moved from Los Angeles, CA to Hooper, Colorado (population 135) in 2014. It was like I landed in some type of lunar hell: between living next to the Great Sand Dunes National Park with 60 MPH winds and brown-out in spring. Followed by multiple WEEKS of -25 to 40 degrees temps in the winter. It was very confusing when my sports car did not start as it was too damn cold (I've since purchased an AWD). Nonetheless I smoked outside, risking frostbite of course. That was true dedication. Don't let anyone tell us we (EX) smokers don't have commitment! One night I accidentally locked myself out of my apartment. Couldn't wake my landlords. Fortunately my neighbor let me sleep on her couch. Now, did I quit? Uh, no. I made sure I left a spare key outside so that I would never lock myself out again.

Smoking: waking up in the morning and thinking, "What-the-f--k. Another day." Not-smoking: waking up in the morning thinking, "What-the-f--k! Another day!

Yeah well we are on a spectrum. 12 degrees the other morning. Then heats up to 65 or so. No complaints-just want the snow because it means WATER! Stay warm love.
