  1. Something Maryland Quitter wrote the other day is still stuck in my head. It was something about how much he enjoyed drinking alcohol but never really enjoyed smoking. Somehow it has brought my quit to a whole new high. Why the hell would I want to spend money on, and suffer physically from something I don't even like? Just sayin'

    start of day 3

    Have you ever tried Karaoke?
  3. We have a garlic festival here in Gillroy California once a year. It was the first time I ever had Garlic ice cream, Yum
  4. If you have never had fish tacos, you haven't lived. If you have never done Karaoke, you haven't partied. If you had never smoked a cigarette, you would not be here. Sorry guys, I won't be able to attend the whine party tonight, I'm celebrating my new found independence with old friends.
  5. My body or maybe it is my mind that craves nicotine and I cannot deny this, at least to myself. During my 18 years as a non smoker, I rarely thought about it because I was busy enjoying life, but it made no difference at all when I started smoking because of tragedy and crisis in my family. I was not as strong or knowledgeable about my addiction then, but I am now with the help of communities like this one. And regarding the title of this thread: If a meteor was on it's way to destroy the earth and I only had a day or two to live, f*ck it, I'll smoke a cigarette. Otherwise I can't think of a damned thing that would make me smoke again. LOL On this quit, I have learned from many different members that absolute self commitment to my quit is essential, and that there is no room for doubt. The term "Easy Peasy" comes to mind when I think of absolute commitment, because to me it implies "I have no doubt."
  6. Don't do that, my ex wife did that and it caused her lean tissue (muscles) to degrade and now she has permanent damage. When I was still in college, I needed one more elective course to graduate and looking down the list of electives, I saw a course in nutrition for nurses. I figured that if I did not like the class, there might be some nice nurses that I could get to know LOL. As it turned out, I learned how to eat right, what old wives tales were really true, and a whole lot of things about malnutrition, food poisoning, and other nasty food related stuff. I ended up enjoying the class and fell in love with the teacher LOL The moral of my story is, if you enjoy taking classes at the local jr college, you might want to try a nutrition class yourself. Within six months after the class was done myself and 6 other people lost a ton of weight with what my teacher called a five step program. Learning to eat right is almost like learning how to quit smoking cigarettes. Oh, and one other thing regarding food that my teacher coined in my head was: re food, "variety is the spice of life", try different things, don't eat the same ole food all the time, it is not good for you.
  7. I've been cooking a batch of pinto beans since late this afternoon, they take forever. I like to put bakon and onions in mine during the last couple of hours of cooking, yum! Plan to make tostadas later using my home made pico de gallo and REAL CHEESE (non of that processed cheese food stuff or cheese wiz)

    Wine Party?

As long as Action doesn't dance naked, I'm there LOL
  9. That is really cool Sarge, there are McDonalds everywhere. Freedom at last!!!!
  10. Wow, you guys are awesome, thanx so much for your help.
  11. Thanx Sarge, had no idea there was sooooo much free wireless available. McDonalds?
  12. That sounds cool, a Rocket Stick! will have to look into that. So Julie, do you have to pay for the minutes while on the Internet with a smart phone or rocket stick?
  13. Do you have to pay for the minutes while you are on the Internet with a smart phone?
  14. I've never had a smart phone, how does that work? Can I link a smart phone to a conventional computer? Sorry, I'm old school, not familiar with any of the new fangled electronics LOL
  15. My plan is to get the motor home running of course, it needs engine work, but I'm more concerned about how I'm going to access the Internet when I start traveling in it. I plan to tour the USA and visit family and friends. I've been a hard wired DSL user for the most part, can anyone help me with suggestions on wireless access on the road? I don't really want to use a laptop, have 4 tower computers, can I do wireless with those?
  16. Damn it Sarge, now I have to go get me one. Love Philly cheese steaks. We used to have a place here in Carson City that used Cheese Wiz on their cheese steak sandwiches, that's just wrong! Needless to say, they went out of business.
  17. No more putting out fires in the back seat of my car. That's a big plus!

    Mini SOS...

I'm a grandpa now, or make that great grandpa. And if I'd known how great grand kids were, I'd have had them first :)

    Mini SOS...

I don't have a manual but my teenage girls and I got along a lot better than with their mother and my teenage boys got along better with their mother. It is because they know that you know what they are going through and that really p*sses them off. Just don't use the line "when I was your age........" That's the kiss of death LOL

    Mini SOS...

I raised 4 teenagers and they damn near drove me insane. My teens thought they were smarter than me, so I let them think that all they wanted. You are smarter than them, stronger than them, and you've got this far with them. You can get through this NOPE
  21. I had not thought of that, but so true :P
  22. The Sarge is a man of few words, straight forward and easy peasy!
  23. In my experience both cats and dogs fart silently. Never heard of a dog that actually made a noise. Guess it's double jeapardy for you LOL
  24. I think it is because he is The Sarge!* *Footnote: [at least that's what the TAC thinks]

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
