  1. @Davevat1 Welcome aboard the train and Happy New Year. It's ok to feel some apprehension but trust me, nothing bad will come from you not smoking. Vent all you need to, I did...a lot. It helps and so do the great folks on this board.

  6. @Angeleek This is a very welcome bit of news to hear that you feel like your brain is 100% recovered. I've read a lot about neural plasticity and remaking who you are by making new neural pathways. A very powerful way to doing this is to visualize yourself as the person you want to be. The difficult part is how to visualize yourself not doing something? I think the trick is to visualize the new you absent the thing you want to eliminate. So being smokers we don't want to try to visualize ourselves as nonsmokers, instead we picture the thing the we want and picture it so vividly that we totally lose sight of the thing that we don't want. Glad you achieved the goal and thanks for coming back and giving us recent quitters some much needed hope.

  17. Day 4 and I'm actually not doing to bad other than the headache gets pretty bad at times. My research tells me this is pretty normal when getting off of carbs and sugars. It's a lot like quitting smoking but I've seen some testimonials of people that went carnivore and kind of spontaneously quit smoking or alcohol. It's an interesting concept. I think much of the issue is inflammation, hormones and gut biome. As the inflammation heals, the hormones normalize and the gut biome stabilizes it changes who you are on a very microscopic level and the new you might be a non smoker. Anyway, I tipped the scale at 193.8 this morning so after 3 days i'm down 5.7 lbs. I'm sure most of that is water weight but I don't really care since I'm not suffering from the bloat or constipation. I'm also less concerned about weight and more focused on body composition. In regards to smoking, it doesn't seem to be causing any extra stress that would put my quit in jeopardy so whatever transition I have to suffer I'll deal with unless that changes. I hope everyone had a great day today and is getting ready to grab 2022 by the balls and beat it into submission. Stay smoke free everyone.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
