  1. Don't you think we should donate to people in need in our own community? I see children that need shoes, socks and coats don't you? I donate these things to local schools don't you?
  2. Katgirl, Thought I was getting it, I will keep working on learning with everyone's help. I must say that I wanted you to change your profile pic awhile back. Now when I see your pic I am jealous of the new happy beautiful pic. You must have a secret that the rest of girls need to know to keep looking so young. Is it California, your special someone or the adventure of new things and your quit? I am happy that I don't have or know how to put a pic on, if I did you would get a pic of my pups, they are the best part of me. K
  3. Thanks Jillar, I really appreciate your help on the site for the non tech people, I have got the needed support in my struggle and hope that (I know that) it will get easier as time passes. I will become a different person if I just stick with my quit. Just reading other peoples struggle makes me want to do conquer smoking and other challenges we face everyday. K
  4. I understand I also have/am been confused on how this works. I think it maybe kind of like facebook but I don't use that. We will figure it out. Jillar seems to be a very good tech person and moderator. She taught me not to start new threads and there was a good way to stay on track from my intro post. I still don't have it but feel comfortable in how I am posting. K
  5. `YOU ARE AN INSPIRATION TO ALL US NEWBIES!!! KEEP IT GOING AND KEEP ME GOING!!!!!!

  7. Dear Abby, Thanks for your reply. Don't need a doctor when I have you guys. You understand how hard this is and your nerves just take over. I know the kids are fine, I always worry when they are out of the country. I do not know how Mexico is handling the Covid crisis. They are both vaccinated but no one ever expected the pandemic and we (the world) are still unsure of what else could happen. Having the glass have empty instead of half full. I will get over it in time. I think I need a drink. K
  8. Dear Katgirl I know the kids are fine, just like we always worry, just a Mom thing. Yes I am depressed and angry. Having a hard time with the quit but have not given up. Missing all the people that I have lost and having a pity party. I have seen the doctor, she says this is all normal considering all the changes. I am so happy for you and your big trip/adventure. You have the world by the tail. I hope to grab it too in the future. K
  9. Abby, You may have me confused with Kate18 but I think we maybe alike in some ways. I had many friends when I was still working. So often things change when you retire. It is 4 in the morning and I have been to bed yet. Been stressing over my son and DIL gone to Mexico for a short vacation, should have been back tonight but have not heard from them. I will call them in the AM. Really struggling, want to smoke so bad but I know it will not help calm me. I know that it is all in my head. I just want that feeling to go away, it really is sneaking up on me all the time. 40 years of smoking will not go away anytime soon, I know it will take a lot of work. i just take it a day at a time and pray for strength. I don't know how much fight I have left. I have been thru a lot of hard things, taking care of husband with cancer, working full time, raising a teenager in high school. Husband passed, my mother got sick, moved her in for a couple of years until I had to place her in care. In my head smoking was the only thing that got me thru the tough things. Now I know that is not true but that is still what I want to do. I have to find something......that will comfort but not hurt me. At this point a quick heart attack would end the misery, God help me K
  10. Thanks to all, I am doing fine. Quit is still going good. Don't leave the house much as I find it a temptation to smoke. Just want to do recognize what triggers and why, learning about myself. I do stay busy at home. Next new hobby will be crochet. Did not put in a garden this year due to hip replacement. That normally keeps me busy. I think of you Gus and hope the new job is going well! I do struggle Abby but don't we all, just having somewhere to vent is comforting and calming. I do love to walk but the older I get the more I can't take the heat. Thanks for the company and encouragement. K
  11. I am about at my one month mark, the physical part is going good, just wish I could turn off my brain. it keeps telling me it is time for a smoke and I just breathe deep and say stop, stop, stop. I leave the house one day a week to do all the errands same day. Then I am in the house in my pj's so I will not go out again. Seems to stop me wanting to go buy the smokes. I know I feel better without but would be more relaxed with. You all have taught me this is a brain thing, I am an addict to something that makes no sense. I just have to retrain my brain and it will go away. Thanks for your support!

    Damm virus

I look at it is a win win, not exposed or spending money
  13. back and forth to kitchen, backdoor to let the dogs out and the all time favorite, the laundry room. That is enough for me. Tomorrow is clean the bathrooms day. oh joy!
  14. watching netflix with the pups, another zombie series, feel we are almost there, walking around town afraid to breathe

    Damm virus

Vaccinated but still afraid of new strains. Still wear a mask when I go out. Don't know for sure how bad the lungs are but I am of an age that I know I need to be careful. Just don't know what the future holds.. Never thought we would face this kind of thing worldwide. Hate to say it but I am afraid of everything. How this will keep increasing the cost of living, groceries, housing and healthcare. I would down size but a one bedroom apartment would cost me more than staying in big house that is paid off. Makes no sense to me. I am ashamed to say I have started to say I am building a stockpile of dried and canned food, just in case. I am going to go look at getting a freezer for meat and produce. Am I the only one thinking of these things. On the brighter side I am saving $300 a month with my quit. Have I lost my mind?
  16. Linda, I feel for you. It can be very difficult when you and only you can make the decision. The stress can drive you crazy and I to would want to smoke. You are doing so well, don't do it. I am only 3 weeks in. I am lucky I have not had any big decisions to make or I might have smoked. If you can take more time to think about it you will be more at ease coming to the decision. K
  17. Going to get a copy next time I go out. Thanks! K
  18. Allen Carr, don't have the book yet but just reading about it here and on the internet has made me feel more at peace since I started my quit. K
  19. I like this one Linda. I have been reading smokersblog.org. Lot of good words there. Got to check out this Allen Carr book. I think it might be helpful. k
  20. Never knew it started in the UK, the most revered TV show in American history. "All In The Family" modeled after a UK show, I did not know that , did you? That theme song "Those Were The Days" Thank God those are not the days anymore, we are all growing and changing. Someday we will all get together and realize we are all people, not different kinds of people, just people with the same dreams, aspirations, desire to make a better world for all. K
  21. NOPE!!!! NO WAY IN HELL OR ANY OTHER PLACE.
  22. is anyone watching the Norman Lear special on PBS? K
  23. Anyone still up or in my case back up? K
  24. Don't you think I should go to bed now that the fireworks are over and the pups have settled? K
  25. Gosh I want to feel that way. Right now I am shocked that I wake up in the mornings. K

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
