  1. Dear Linda. I am sorry that your friend is suffering. It is normal to feel the need for some kind of comfort, we just tend to think of a smoke. That is how we lived our life. We all have to find another way to self calm or comfort. My husband died of cancer (skin) and I did not quit thru that or even 10 years after. I think that little "bitch" of a thought will never leave K
  2. I was born in France. Dad was in the military. Was there my first year, then we went to Germany for a couple of years. My one and only time abroad and I do not remember any of it. K
  3. Opah, You scare me so much, you said you talked to your nurse. She should be concerned about your cough and the things you are coughing up. I still think you should go see the doctor. If this has been ongoing for sometime it is time to have some tests. Only want the best for you! K
  4. Hello and welcome! You may have never thought you would be on this journey. I did not think so either but doctors and medical (health) issues come in to play. Then we are faced with tough situations. That was the case for me. I am still new to this but these people have helped me so much. They do not judge or make you feel bad about anything you post. I COULD NOT DO THIS WITHOUT THEM! K
  5. I have experienced the lost lunch many times. I always took it with a grain of salt except for one time. I was pregnant and someone took my lunch. Do not mess with a pregnant woman's food, it could get you hurt. (murdered) K
  6. Wish you were nearby, I think we would get along very well, you could pour the drinks while I cook. We could indulge in everything except smoking! K 1 w w
  7. I wish I felt anything about this, I do enjoy a good walk when it is not hot outside. I am ashamed to say that most of my walking is into the kitchen... K
  8. You are welcome at any time. just send a heads up and what you would like. I had my lunch vanish many times, I took it as a sign I must be a cook! K
  9. I do not have any support besides this board, I totally get it, the struggle, you have to remember this is for you and about you. Every one else can f... off. Just worry about you! K
  10. Geez ,I wish I could sparkle, now you will be brilliant Be able to be seen from space because you are putting your self and your health first. Is it easy, no, is it worth it, yes! Go Girl, be amazing, be strong ,be beautiful! will
  11. I am depressed and self medicating with some whiskey. I took chicken out of freezer for an indulgent dinner of fried chicken, mashed potatoes and corn. Of course, there will be gravy involved. Trying to decide if I want to make brownies...YES I DO If you are gone to be bad, be really bad {JUST DO NOT SMOKE!} k
  12. Great job!! Right now I can only dream and pray I will do as well! You have my admiration and you are an inspiration!!! K
  13. Please love people lots more (something I need to work on I spend to much time with the pups) TACOS (also spend to much time thinking about food)
  14. Please let all tenants enter BREAD
  15. I am guessing your new love is that gun you were talking about. Take the Mrs. with you if you can when you test it. Every woman should know how to use a gun if needed. K
  16. I agree with Opah, pie is for dinner and if you have a regular dinner, good for a treat while watching TV. Sorry but at my house pie is food for anytime of day. There are so many variations. Both sweet and savory. (Except for pecan) Easy to make if you use store bought crust (Pillsbury in my freezer at all times) for pie emergencies. I have a lot of emergencies! K
  17. I love me some pie and I love pecans, but they just don't work for me with syrup. I know that is crazy from a Texan. I never even tried to make one even though my husband loved it. K
  18. Opah, Did not have a grandmother like that but did have Aunt Grace who was a real switcher. If you saw her walking toward that tree you got right real quick LOL K
  19. No problem, just know how sometimes men can be stubborn about going to the Doc. Would not want anybody not to get the care they might need. It is a pain in the ass and I hate it. Getting older sucks, in your brain you still feel the same but your body says no you can't do that anymore. Just take care of yourself! K
  20. Look, we do not know each other I am not gonna give you crap. I had a husband that would not make time for the doctor either, I pleaded, begged and cried, so did his Mom. Then later his Mother and I got to plead, beg and cry all over again when we lost him. No job is more important than your life, just march in there tell the boss you have to take off and go to the doctor. Sorry, I just gave you some crap K
  21. Opah, that is great that your vision is so much better. What about the other stuff, have you made an appointment to check on your breathing issues yet? K
  22. Finally I have a trophy and the strange thing I have done other things worthy of a trophy, much harder things I can tell you. This makes me feel very special because no one in my life smoked so they don't get the hard work we have to put in to get the job done. If I could compare I would tell my sister no make up for the rest of your life, she would not last the week. K
  23. Thanks to all of you!! I am smoke free but look forward to the day I am crave free. That I do not think of it all. Just so grateful to the people here have given advice, support and overall kindness. You have made me laugh when I had no joy. You have taught me that we all have struggles and that gives you strength to keep on trying on not only my quit but other things as well! K
  24. Katgirl, I wish I enjoyed watching sports. I only have watched in person when my son was involved when he was growing up. I was around it a lot, my husband and his family were big on the football. I was there but tucked in a corner with a good book. I miss those days, I was like a piece of furniture but I was with them! I loved them so much!
  25. Okay don't laugh but I joined some survey sites. They keep me focused on something else, I totally zone out, plus make a little cash and get some gift cards. Not much reward but does give me something to do with the old nicotine addicted brain. K

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
