  1. @intoxicated yoda I have discussed this sleep thing with my doctor, hard to fall asleep and stay asleep. Now it is just out of hand my body has decided it wants to stay up until the wee hours of the night and then I wind up sleeping away the morning. I wonder if this is an age related thing. My Mom went thru the same sort of thing.
  2. I am up late and I think you maybe up early. Just want to check you are okay?? K
  3. @intoxicated yoda Yep! I feel your pain. I get those feelings all the time, I dream of those things but then I wake up and remember I am still trying to save my life. Well really not save my life but have a choice in how soon and how I will die. Let's face it, we all hope to leave at a very old age, in our sleep and in my case with a sweet little dog curled up by my side. I want it to be in the winter, on a comfy overstuffed bed with pillows like clouds and sheets of silk with big fluffy blankets. So all I can do now is make sure I am ready, that I have all the things ready just in case I get to live/dream my goals. The first step is to quit, I have done that, so far, so good. Sweet dreams!!
  4. @Opah I have really enjoyed your post. All the things and people you love. You have an true spirit in your words about your family, nature and the joys of a simple life. I appreciate your love of hard work, even though you may not love your job, you work hard and are a good influence to those you work with. My main thing is you not get lost in that at the detriment of your personal life. That you take care of yourself so you can take care of your family. This is speaking first hand, my husband gave everything to the job, neglected even his health, and when things went really wrong, everything was still about work. I let it go because I knew that made him happy. He never had a clue how hard it was for me and our son, to give up the time we wanted with him so he could spend it on the job. I know this sounds bad but we have no regrets, we gave him the care and freedom to do what he wanted with the time he had. That said, at this point we have made a decision to quit smoking to improve our lives and be here with our families as long as possible. K
  5. I have not been feeling social so have to come to board for inspiration. I am not in danger of letting my quit go after last night. I came on and read from the newbie page, read the stories of those that have relapsed. It truly helped, to know that people have had that happen and felt the grief, defeat, depression from momentary lapse in strength. It has shown me I do not want to to that. I already have plenty of troubles. I do not need to add to it by losing my quit. If you are struggling go and read those posts. They will renew your commitment. K
  6. @Linda I have had the blues as well ,my 42nd wedding aniversary was on the 9ith, next month will mark 11 years for me. I still miss him and think of him everyday. You do the best you can but certain days are harder than others, K
  7. I am on Grandma duty. The grandson is grounded right now from certain things ie video games, computer etc.. I don't like to be put in the position of enforcer. If the child is grounded, then the parents should be grounded to make sure the child understands the reason for the punishment. How do they expect the child to learn if they are not willing to take the time to enforce and have deep conversations with the child. I always felt it necessary to go back over the thing that got them into trouble. I don.t know who said it but "If you don't make trouble there will be no trouble" Now @Opahcan I have some of your salad?

    Winter

It is beautiful, have family on my husbands's side that own a home on Canyon Lake. Went there for family reunions. The local deer are so tame they will come on the property to graze. The lake is emerald green. The only one I have seen more beautiful is Lake Tahoe. K

    Winter

I am in the Dallas Fort Worth area. You told me you had family in, I think it was Fischer. I looked it up and think that would be what we call hill country, very beautiful area and close to a lot of tourist areas. Austin, San Antonio etc. K

    Winter

@Linda Maybe we should switch places in the winter. We get cold but rare snow and ice. I just love the cold as long as I don't have to go out and drive in it.

    Covid up tick

@Linda glad to not see you on the board, hope you are resting and sleeping well. I know you have been ill and now worrying about family. You have to take care of yourself to care of them. Right now they just need to hear your voice or get a message to them that you are praying for their quick recovery. If the virus is on the move there, follow the protocols as before. Texas was way up there with it for a few weeks but has settled back down. This to shall pass and then we see what is next. K

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
