It’s so refreshing to see someone with such a long quit own up to experiencing a desire for a cigarette after a great length of time. I am 5 months quit and although I hardly every think of smoking anymore I know that I need to always be vigilant against the addiction. I too believe that we are addicts. There is no other word for what we deal with when we quit, the thoughts we have from time to time and the craving for something that is only going to kill us. I am sorry that you were under so much stress but thank you for being honest so that us newbies KNOW that we will battle this the rest of our lives. And awesome job saying NOPE to nicotine!

Welcome Darcy!!!! I’m glad that you want ride the train with us! WooHoo!!! Congratulations @Dianne!!!

Thanks everyone! Time is flying by!!! I hardly ever think about smoking anymore and although I still run into triggers from time to time it’s becoming second nature to be dismissive of them. I have a new life to live!!! All of this from a 2 pack a day 35 year smoker of just 5 short months ago!

Fantastic Robbie! You sound so much more comfortable with your quit too! Remember how rough it was in the beginning? Remember when we thought that we weren’t going to survive our initial quit? LOL How gullible we were. We kicked butt girl!

Great job posting IamMommaBear! I had lightheadedness. I think it’s pretty normal. If it continues for a prolonged period or comes with weakness and/or confusion you may want to talk to your doctor about it. I’ve been following your quit and you are doing awesome. I’m 55, 35 year 2pk a day smoker with anxiety issues. The initial quit was so hard and horrible for me. But I survived. I thought that my mind would break a few times but I survived! I’m 4 and 1/2 months into my quit and it DOES get easier. So very much easier! I promise!

Congratulations on 8 years quit!

Welcome aboard Momma Bear! We all get so excited when someone new boards the train! I had severe anxiety during my initial quit so I pretty much had to lay in bed with the covers over my head and just cry it out. I eventually overcame it. My biggest help was constantly reading all of the posts on this page and drinking plenty of fluids to flush my system. We are all here to help when needed and I do wish you well with your quit. -
Congratulations @Mee!!!

I’m sorry that you are going through this. I know exactly how it feels. Sometimes it makes me think that I am not allowed to be happy, on top of the world, or just completely comfortable in myself or where I am at in life. But I muster on. Breathing exercises help me the most. They ground me. I surely hope that you are over this latest attack. Praying for a happy day!
