  1. Same here Mona, I also once had quit for over 2 years, then decided to have one with a friend at a social gathering and back to square one. Having smoked for almost 40 years, and having to quit numerous times, I know how difficult it is to quit, and how easy it is to relapse. But as Mona said "Do not give up on quitting", the difference for me this time around is being on this forum which gives me the boost of confidence I need to quit for good. It really helps to have a support group to go to when you're having a hard time fighting the craving, knock on wood I haven't had a need to post an SOS yet but it's assuring to know that it's there when I need it.

  15. So true, every person is different. I know some people who just decided to quit 1 day and never lit up again I also know some people who tried to quit many times but ended up smoking again Personally I have tried to quit countless number of times, the longest was over 2 years, all it took was 1 drag to fall back into the Nicotine's trap again As Doreen said, it's a journey, and I find this journey has many traps along the way, so you can't let your guard down. For me, I now realize that I will probably never be back in the "normal" state of a non-smoker, I realize that the new normal for me is to anticipate the Nicotine traps which can hit me at any time, out of nowhere, and it's NOPE all the way.

    SOS!

It's gone yet? Time to set off the fireworks? You can do this. Nana and I just decided this morning to become quit mates so we can lean on each other to support our quit. Since you also quit at about the same time, join us. We'll march together to our freedom from smoking.
  19. You got this. Treasure your 5 days quit Nana, stay on the Board. I'll be your quit mate, I'm looking forward to post anniversary celebrations at the same time with you every month, every year going forward. Let's do this, NOPE all the way.
  20. It's going to be a rocky day today for me dealing with a major issue, so I need to come here to pledge NOPE.
  21. A big thank you again to everyone. You've all been extremely helpful for my quit, more than you know. JohnQ
  22. Celebration posts really inspire new quitters such as myself. Congrats on your 8 wonderful years of freedom Greenlight.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
