Welcome back, Linda! Just keep quitting as many times as you have to. You may be able to improve your lung function in time with respiratory exercises, diet & exercise and stopping smoking. Continuing to smoke will only make it worse, so great job in your determination to quit! You can do it!
-
We all know how hard it is until you just DO IT. Are you ready to breathe easier again? If not, when do you think you will be? Don't wait 10 years like I did. That's a lot of time and money, not to mention lung health and the ability to breathe. You can do it Kdad!

Glad to hear it worked out and congratulations on not smoking!!

Angeleek replied to jillar's topic in Celebrations!
Way to go, Steven D! You got this licked! Keep saving all that moolah and be glad you're done with the smoker's breath stink cough shame plight! Awesome job! Don't be derailed by the no-nicotine-blues should they decide to pay you a visit. They are the last gasp of the addictomonster and will go away if you stick to your guns! -
Good Morning, well it is still morning here in CA
Angeleek replied to Dogbelly's topic in Quit Smoking Discussions
I too hated to offend coworkers or clients, so I would go through a whole routine to get the stink off me. Coworkers said they couldn't smell me, but sometimes you could if you tried, especially on wet days. I never smoked in my apartment but I still found traces of offgas smell that permeates everything months after quitting. The last couple years I would even do this coughing thing to empty my lungs before coming back inside. It really helped, but even the exhale and evaporation from the body while you sleep permeates everything after a while. So glad that's all gone now. -
Yes every time you beat it down, you get stronger and the nicomonster gets smaller. Good job!

Can't believe it's been a year today since quitting nicotine. No more stink stink! No more freezing outside to get a fix! Yippee feels great being free! Thanks to all the fine folks here on the train for your support! Happy Friday!

Welcome, Dogbelly! Congrats on deciding to quit for good once and for all. It sounds like you are active and healthy, and your body will thank you for taking this step! There are people who can smoke occasionally-I know some. Most of us can't do that because we've been fully-addicted smokers for so long. Since you're the only smoker left in your immediate surroundings, it shouldn't be too hard. Just remember - any reward will do as long as its not a cigarette. And watch out for the post-smoking blues which might come around month 4. I made it through...you can too! Great job!

Welcome Patricia. Congratulations on your 9 months! Hopefully the no-nicotine-blues have subsided for you if that was an issue. 9 months lady you have it licked! Pat yourself on the back and enjoy the forum!

Great job JH! Quit as many times as you have to until your quit really sticks! Watch the Joel Spitzer videos for motivation and good counsel. Kinda like your own personal therapist. This is a great place to educate yourself and get support. Just keep quitting til the quit sticks!

Well at least you had a little taste of disappointment in your dream...enough to let you know how you would feel if you relapsed and keep you from relapsing. I had a similar dream where I didn't realize I'd relapsed until I was 3 cigs into it. Dreams are good outlets and reminders. Keep the quit, Kate!

Narcissists and negative Nancies would rather tear others down than better themselves. Sometimes it's chronic pain or mental illness. Either way it's not about you, and no amount of convincing on your part will give them a change of heart. Stay firm and focused on the person you are, your goals and the positive outcomes of your actions. Give the narcissist / negative person as little ammunition as possible, and try not to let it get you down. They are miserable and can't help it.

12/27 is my ***official*** quit date
Angeleek replied to Fluffyyellowduck's topic in Quit Smoking Discussions
Congratulations FYD on setting and sticking to your quit date and making it through the first day! They say the 1st three days are the hardest, but it depends on the person, I think. Day 6 was a zinger for me, but I made it through. Every day gets a little easier, especially knowing you made it through the previous day. You can totally do this! Enjoy the Joel Spitzer videos and the documentaries. Chat as much as you like here. Play some games to busy the mind. Don't let the non-quitters derail your plan to stay smoke free and reclaim two of your greatest health assets - your heart and lungs. Enjoy getting free! -
Have a Jolly Good Christmas everyone! Stay safe and sane...

Going an entire day without craving a smoke or even imagining wanting to have a smoke...not thinking about it at all! 11 months ago I had upwards of 200 craves a day. NOPE! -
Way to go Kate! No more standing out in the rain...no more stink stink...all that moola saved. Life is super without cigarettes! Great job!
