  5. NOPE!!
  6. Thanks, all. And Doreen is the BEST gift giver!
  7. I had all of the above. The last one was I became depressed after quitting in the fall going into winter. Truth: Smoking makes you depressed by hijacking your brain's dopamine synthesis and replacing your natural happy with nico-happy. There are ways to cope with the blues and even full on depression while quitting smoking. Think back to when you started smoking and when your low-level depression started. Chances are the latter started sometime after you started smoking. Possibly weeks or months. The longer you smoke, the more depressed you get. The longer I stay quit, the happier I get! I continue to be amazed at how smoking dulls so many things...not just taste and smell. But happiness, and tactile sensation, and inner quiet...I know the list goes on!
  8. 2,770 in honor of my mom who had COPD and her dad who had lung cancer. So sorry about your mom, Jillar. Shezi, congrats on 2 months no smoke!
  9. Welcome Christine! Great job taking back your freedom! The Joel Spitzer videos are great to watxh. Very informative and kinda like having a counselor in the box. Play the games, read and read some more, post an SOS if you are thinking of smoking, and hold tight to that quit!
  10. You got this woman!
  11. Thanks heaps, Jillar and everyone! Good news -- the no-nicotine-depression is officially gone! It took close to 8 months, I think. I remember complaining about the depression and feeling muddled, and wondering if I'd ever feel normal again. Feeling great now, and thankful for the support here!
  12. Way to go getting and staying free, D2! Four years is phenomenal. No need to ever smoke again!!!
  13. Way to go, Cristobal! 8 years quit is a LOT of money saved and life earned back. Congratulations!!!
  14. Woohoo CBDave ... major thumbs up for you on 5 years!!! Excellent job!!! Thanks for all your support for us newbies here on the train.
  15. Congratulations, Steven, on your first month quit! The first month is the hardest! I think. Keep it going because it gets easier from here on out. Great job reclaiming your health and freedom!
  16. Congratulations on stopping smoking, Matthew! Definitely stay away from the drink if it makes you crave. I did early on. You know how alcohol ruins most people's good intentions. Not worth it! You're almost done with hell week, Matthew. Great going!
  17. Hi Oona! Congratulations on sticking to your quit! Patience with yourself is necessary. Since every person is individual, there is no recipe for when the exhaustion will end. But it will. Be patient and remember that one day it WILL be over. You got this! Just stay the course...you will see.
  18. Thank you for posting this important heads up on the CT scan. I'm sorry about your diagnosis and glad they found it early. Great job staying mindful of your risk profile and proactive with your health screenings! They say that action is the antidote to fear. We are holding you in our thoughts and prayers, Kathleen, as you embark on your treatment and healing journey. God bless and best wishes for a healthy outcome.
  19. And who knows, maybe you'll be presented with an opportunity that is contingent on not smoking. Then you'll be so glad you did it "just because"...for you.
  20. Maybe you are waiting for an epiphany or for something to happen in order to jump start your quit. If nothing's going on to really motivate you, take Boo's advice and quit cuz it's the right thing to do. Boo is right. Do it cuz it's the right thing to do. You'll thank yourself for it some day in the future.
  21. Maybe quit caffeine if you are having caffeine. Totally because stopping nicotine makes you feel the caffeine so much more intensely.
  22. Welcome Margee! Hope your first quit days have gone off smoothly. Congrats on taking your health back into your own hands! You know that stopping smoking will do you so much good and reduce your risk profile for all the terrible diseases....so yay!!! And you already know you can do it. Yes, do watch the Joel Spitzer videos to arm yourself with information that will help you stay the course during the beginning days. It's like having your own counselor on recording. Browse the forum. Read as much as you can to stay informed. There are some awesome tobacco documentaries to blow your mind and deepen your resolve to make it through the first days. And games to keep you occupied if you are bored or having a crave. Best of luck on your new quit journey! You got this! We are here to support you.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
