NOPE, Welcome to this place! Awesome post! You are a different breed of cat, aren't you? One who didn't mind being addicted? You loved your drug, didn't mind smelling like shit and didn't care about the monetary cost because it was negligible. So, here you are, having looked across the long years to your personal eternity, and have seen that there are possible health implications! I applaud you, Sir/Madame, for your vision. Per aspera ad astra!

you'll make it, you know you will but it is the worst in the first few days and the physical addictiion variety, some routine change ups to keep your brain busy RC... you know anything new won't have a cigarette associated with it, so new is good, but it won't replace face-to-face with routine. The ones that you did most often will fall first when you come out of these first couple of weeks Craves are the worst but they won't kill you, those damned cigarettes will eventually...think about what caused the crave...what is the trigger. You know, it's almost like falling on your sword and declaring victory when you quit. You are saying I won this without having fired a shot. You make that come true because you eventually do kill your old self off to get yourself back like you want, on the terms that you will accept to declare victory. So it is a war. You don't get to choose the battles, they come to you and you're fighting them now. What you have now it's a lot more than it may appear to be you have the start of something here...there is some great advice here with this group...all of it is solid and practical...hang in there!

that's right RC you are going to win..choke it out how you need to... a lot of people run, to help themselves, if you can't run (I couldn't) then maybe walk a bit, keep yourself busy...get some stuff going ,s anything, go places, do stuff you kept yourself away from cause of smoking, all that is open now, and meanwhile keep that blood sugar up as it needs to be...maybe causing headaches..or maybe getting too much sugar or *carbs could do that as well.... keep on posting, that poison is going to leave and in the meantime you're already working on unraveling from the addiction, you already broke the chain of addiction with that last cigarette, and now with that last patch, You're free and you should be proud, you've done a great job... :) Guard the quit Markus * edited to change from barbs to carbs ya need one but don't need the other :)

My favorite Styx Song (besides Castle Walls) Day into night she's with me How sweet is her warm embrace Safe in the scent of jasmine So safe in her gold and lace Mornings I find, she's left me So cold, so alone but aware I try to escape, she finds me Oh run though I may, she's there There, there, there, there Luck is a lady whose smile Is as cold as a stone She'll bring you things Many things you might never have known But when your die is cast She'll have the final laugh at you She'll lock you in a duel Where you come out the fool Beware of the Queen of Spades Her black widow's curse might find you yet Beware of a love that you will regret Her love means only your death Day into night she's with me Turn of a card, she's there The first time is free, you know But from now on, pay me Me, me, me, me

A lot of that gum lol :) RC Seriously, my replacement though I actually quit cold on coffee b/c of coffee flavor I couldn't do it...so I still kept caffiene, I drank a lot of strong tea hot and cold, I know it's extreme but I had to b/c that coffee flavor association was rough on me. I had to survive and wasn't willing to cut caffiene. I would never recommend half-caf, that's just mean, and what I did I wouldnt recommend, but I had a good substitute with tea, caffiene with no association. Hey if the coffee doesn't trigger you, you'll not have to do a thing. If it does like it did me I couldn't learn gracefully. how to keep it around and still not smoke, some stuff I cut totally just by how it made me feel, I just left it behind if it wasn't right. it is okay...that is not any kind of good news at all... Not carrot juice man but got to keep the blood sugar up, :) Lots of people, younger, who have good ideas as well... you'll do well, build yourself a quit, customized RC :)

hey mfic welcome aboard I'm 58 quit a few years ago. Get right with it. You are the mfic in charge of your quit, and that is an appropriate name right there, that's taking accountability and is a damned good first step to quit for the rest of your life. the real HMFIC here is MQ, this is his website. Tips? Post often, chew that gum and cut back on the coffee a bit, cause you can go hard or you can go easy...most people go hard cause they don't study like you are doing Never understood never-smokers, they just aren't addictive personalities is all I can say about it, You think we're pretty, we're pretty ugly man cause we got addiction, and have got death and people we love dying and hanging on so they won't . We got all the shit here man and then some. And this is real as life, we're all dying a little more each day we live and some of us just putting the pieces together to walk one more day quit and sober. We were smokers and come from smokers, and most have lost of family and friends to it...so pretty ain't a word I would use to describe this place and people here. It may seem superficial being in the cloud but it's as real as real can get, so it's graceful and it's the best that human beings can be, at their worst. We're all addicts here, one puff away from a pack a day :) good to see you, glad to see another smoker bite the dust. GTQ,
