  1. Sunshine - I have been thinking about the gum, but I took this patch off like 4 hours ago and I seriously feel zero difference. I am wondering if the patch wasn't even working on me because it wasn't sticking correctly or something.

    My Quit, My Dad

So sorry for your losses, Jillar Sazerac - I hope I gain confidence soon, because I don't have very much now. It's there, but not much. I'm glad I found you guys too, I will forever be grateful!
  9. NOPE!
  10. The strangest thing just happened! I took off my patch and threw it away to give cold turkey a whirl, and my dog got super excited, he started jumping around and acting weird, licking my face - just out of the blue! Maybe it's a sign?
  11. Thank you, Linda! Ashley is old, Ryder is 6. Ashley runs the show
  12. I tried quitting with the patch December 27 last year. It worked great! No issues at all. This year, I got a new script, same exact patch - and I am having a hard time keeping it sticking to my skin! It's also itching/scratching me a lot. Has anyone ever experienced this? Any tips? I switch up the location of my patch each time I change it, etc. I don't know what else to try.
  13. Congratulations!

We both work very long hours and dinner usually doesn't get done until 9-9:30 but dangit - we do it! lol our kids are teenagers (16 & 19) so it's not like they can't make some ramen to tie themselves over for a while, or cereal, whatever. but tonight was a weekend so we had Taco Bell, shhhhh it was a bad treat for us all!

    My Quit, My Dad

My dad died of lung cancer in September of 2006. I took care of him. I watched the horrors of the disease take over his mind and body. He was diagnosed at the end of April and it took just 5 short months to take his life. And in those 5 months, we LIVED at the doctor's office, hospital, chemo office, radiation office, emergency room - you name it, we were always there. Hardly ever at home until it came time for hospice to step in. You'd think that would have been enough for me to put the cigarettes down, but no. At least I am doing it today, I figure. I think he would at least be proud of that. My doctor harped on me endlessly about quitting because of my family history - stating how much more likely I am to get cancer because my immediate family member passed from it. You'd think that would also be enough for me to quit, hearing that every single time I go to the doctor! Doctors are smart, they know you, they care. right? My dad has just been on my mind a lot more lately than usual (he always is, but more lately) The pic is of my daddy holding me right after I was born. It's my favorite picture of me & him, always has been. Look for more blogs from me - y'all are gonna get to know me lol.. I am a very open & honest person, maybe too much so. But it is what it is ...
  18. Yes! The cabin we were in was super far from anything .. I loved it. I want to live the life like your friend
  19. Boo - I am jealous that you live in Tennessee. I dream of living there. I was married in Sevierville (near Gatlinburg) and it is simply stunning. I am super glad fall is here - it is my favorite season! It could stay fall forever and I wouldn't mind a bit. I love the trees, the smell of bonfires, deer hunting season, etc. . . I just wish it would come like flipping a switch, lol!
  20. NOPE!

  24. Got some really GREAT news and I really wanted to celebrate by smoking I am having a hard time trying not to reach for a cigarette right now. (I do not have any around me) But I could easily go to the store . . . but I am trying really hard to ride thru this!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
