  1. @max1888, even if you don't yet see the benefits of quitting, it most definitely is worth it. It sounds like you are trying to justify quitting when it would seem more logical to justify smoking. Being a non-smoker is the natural state. Our bodies are not meant to be human tobacco filters. Smoking robs you of your health and money. You can't always see the damage it is doing to your body. By the time someone is diagnosed with a smoking-related illness, it is often too late to fix the problem. Hang on to your three weeks!
  2. From what I have learned, the brain of a former smoker will never be the same as that of a never-smoker. We can put our addiction to sleep but we will always be addicts. Regarding feeling back to "normal", everyone is different. Prior to this quit, I had been quit for over two years. It didn't take too long to feel good, maybe a couple of months, but I felt different than I did as a smoker. As a smoker, I didn't need much sleep. I was expecting to have all this extra time as a non-smoker but that didn't end up being the case because I needed more sleep time. It took quite a while to learn how to deal with emotions as a non-smoker, maybe 6 months. That is also the amount of time it took to stop thinking about smoking for long periods of time. Based on your comments, it sounds like you're pretty close to your new "normal". Enjoy!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
