  1. Two years and six months. Smoking consumed too many years of my life. I now celebrate everyday by breathing that clean fresh air. As soon as this darn pandemic is over, I plan on enjoying every bit of my freedom.
  2. Thank you MQ. I am forever grateful to you and the people here who guided me to freedom.
  3. Welcome Gus. So glad you found us. There is a lot of support and friendship here. Yes I was a blubbering idiot in my early quit. I think I grieved what I once thought was my best friend. Your emotions can be all over the place during your journey but in the end, you will be one awesome quitter. Stay close and reach out when you need us.
  4. Good job pushing through. Jeff, keep marching forward and don't go back. Life is so much better ahead!
  5. Jeff, I so hope you power through this urge to go back to smoking. Once you have travelled this far on your journey, it is only a matter of redirecting those thoughts. Don't allow your addiction to consume your thought process. I know you have it in you.
  6. Linda, concentrate on the good. We had beautiful weather in Ohio also. Breath in that fresh air and enjoy finally being outside after the snowy winter we had. The worst of your quit is really over. Redirect those old thoughts to something new.
  7. Congratulations Steve! One month quit is huge. The first month is truly the worst. Keep your mind on the prize (a life free of smoking) and you with get there!
  8. Rant away Linda. We have your back and care. Celebrate your commitment to your quit and that you can handle the disappointments in life. Unfortunately, they are always going to be there.
  9. Lilly and Ray, you are always welcome back. We are here to encourage you and let you know that you can make it to freedom. Many of us have had a number of quits before we found success. Let's finally make this both of your final quits!
  10. She probably knows. I was amazed at how you can smell a smoker even though they try to hide it. I am sure she would understand your addiction and celebrate your freedom with you.

Yes it was very maddening at the time. All is well now. I think it was the feeling of losing control of something again (like smoking). It finally struck me funny. I don't look too bad in leather with a whip. No one would ever believe that would be me

I quit looking because I would get so irritated. My husband and I both tried everyway possible to contact instagram but nothing worked. We followed all their complaint procedures but they never responded back. He probably moved on to someone else.
  13. @AceWhite, isn't it amazing how much time we wasted smoking those cancer sticks.

We did use to share pictures but some jerk stole my picture off this forum and posted some photoshopped, unsavory pictures of me on instagram. They then made sure to message me on the forum and directed me to them. I found it to be very humiliating and frustrating because it seemed impossible to stop them or find the person responsible. I am sure that was their intent. I made sure to pull my pictures off the forum and let the administrators know what had happened. I tend to be a little more cautious now. I can laugh about it now and am only sharing so other realize it could happen to them.
  15. Welcome Latoya. Sure glad you found your way back. Hang close and stay committed this time. Freedom from this awful addiction is possible.
  16. Exactly. It chiseled away at my self esteem and made me isolate from life feeling ashamed. Every time you push through a crave, you become stronger. Peachfuzz, stay focused on that thought and you, not your addiction, will always be the leader of your journey!
  17. Gee Rosuki, don't you get silver sneakers with your insurance. I thought you had retired. We can go the the "Y", planet fitness and our community rec. center that has a beautiful pool. They are all free through our insurance and silver sneakers. My husband and I were loving the pool and the lazy river. We haven't gone because of the pandemic. When we get our second shot/vaccine, we will definitely go back.
  18. Babs, 8 years is great. Yes, life never seems easy and requires constant work to navigate through it. Smoking will never make it better. It is amazing how our addiction shows it's head during times of stress. Congratulations for staying strong and committed to your quit. You are a wonderful example to us all.

@Boo, @jillar and @Doreensfree, we have been fixing up or home during the pandemic. Oak was in 32 years ago when we bought our home. We have had to replace woodwork and have been going crazy trying to get it to match. The wood stains are different and don't take well to the wood. We also had to replace a vanity in one bathroom and could find nothing close to what we had The in thing is white or gray. I could not imagine raising a family with white cupboards and doors. Can you imagine the dirty fingerprints that would need cleaning.
  20. I'm not crazy about cheese but I got obsessively hooked on Cheetos during my quit. Thankfully I got over my addiction with them after my year smoking quit.
  21. Happy Birthday Jillar. May your day be as special as you are!
  22. @JH63 I was appalled when I read how the tobacco companies put chemicals in the cigarettes to keep you hooked. I did not feel like a victim but it sure made me angry. I finally understood why I had so many failed quits. It really brought home the fact that I was an addict! Keep up the great work on your quit. The longer you go, the stronger you become!
  23. So glad you found us Phoebe. There is plenty of education, support and friendship here on the train. You are a perfect example of how we all will have to deal with our addiction to tobacco for our entire lives. You have been here before and know that you can quit. So, stay strong and keep this quit going. You can do this!
  24. I'm here too!
  25. Welcome to the forum Brianbnord. It is never too late to quit. We are here to support you on your journey. Hang around and educate yourself.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
