  1. Welcome Steveo1. Now is a good time as any and this is the best place to do it. Tons of information and support. I know about those teeth problems. I have had many surgeries on my gums, teeth removal, implants, skin grafts and bone grafts. Most of these procedures are not covered on dental insurance. I have about $27,000.00 invested in my mouth. I tell my husband my diamonds are in my mouth. I am so glad your dentist was honest with you. Mine never connected smoking to my problems. You will be truly amazed how better you feel once you quit. It is such a powerful feeling to be free of the addiction.
  2. Wow Jack. 20 months already. You just seem to be breezing through this so easy. Good for you. You got this handled!
  3. Ankush, day one down and on your way. Just hang tough and you will get through another day.
  4. Oh Mona, everyone's quit is different. It is not just about stopping smoking but also an emotional roller coaster. Some days you have the strength to help others but sometimes, you need to concentrate on yourself. I would not be where I am today if it wasn't for the unconditional support I have received here. The stronger you get, the more you are able to give back. I am so glad you are starting your quit. I hope to be able to help you through your journey.
  5. Jo, I know you did not deliberately forget me. I don't know how you keep track of us all. I will be sure to let you know when I need celebrating. Actually, that could be every day because I am a rockin hot nonsmoker (stretching it a bit with the "hot") lol.
  6. Nope
  7. Mine is August 1, 2018. I know some are confusing. I do look forward to the celebrations. I guess that is the kid in me!
  8. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. I love you all too. I do feel so awesome. I can't believe smoking was such a big part of my life. It is barely a thought now. You all have made such a wonderful impact on my life. Thanks so much for helping me believe in myself.
  9. Am I not complaining enough? You must just think I have this quit mastered! No one to help celebrate my 7th and 8th month quit. Does that mean my ship won't sail at 12. I sure as hell better have one big party. I am looking forward to it.
  10. Well, your absence was noticed this week and I missed you much. I do wish the weather would let my garden start calling me.
  11. Nope
  12. I am so glad you found something that worked. I really think you have it this time. You are only going to get more stronger and powerful.
  13. Lilly, I am so proud of you. You are finally conquering the struggle. I think you finally have this! Keep that quit going.
  14. Nope
  15. Nope not today!
  16. I suppose now that I am getting old, I should be thinking this way. We always put one car in one name and one in the other. I use to tease my husband I needed one in my name for when I decided to run away. By putting in both names we get our license plates at each others birthdays.
  17. Nope - not going to share any with Doreen and Nope I am not going to smoke!
  18. Wow. She is really pretty. She is yours not your husband's, right! I can sure picture us ladies in it!!!!
  19. P & P, I don't know if you celebrate Easter and the Easter Bunny but I can tell you I am a jelly bean junkie. I only eat them this time of year. I also like to get the peeps and let them get stale and hard. I love to eat them that way. I found the perfect way to get rid of them. Do you think we could use them this way and not go crazy seeing them like this? lol.
  20. I am ready P & P. I think if we can make small changes and move a little we will see some improvement. Let us see where we are n 4 weeks. We don't want to lose it fast. Let's shoot for 5 pounds each.
  21. Ankush, you can do this. Just remember distraction, distraction, distraction. I did a lot of deep breathing and thinking how wonderful the fresh air felt. Now that I am looking back, I am thinking how it wasn't so bad. I can tell you I was really ashamed of my smoking and truly felt my days were numbered with starting to have health issues from smoking. Just remember we are all here to guide you through. Be sure to hang close to the forum.
  22. Ambush, I am sorry I missed your thread. This wonderful train was the only place I could quit. I smoked for 42 years and tried many different methods. There is nothing to be afraid of and everything to gain; freedom, power and self esteem. There will be an uncomfortable period the first month but we are here to help you through. Once that nicotine is gone, you just retrain your pattern of thinking. I am almost 8 mos. smoke free and i don't think much of smoking. My life has been very stressful lately but when that thought of smoking appears, I just think how foolish that thought is. My life is so much better without cigarrettes. Know we are here to help you with this journey.
  23. Doreen, do you have any home heath care or help? You will need time for yourself. I do hope you know to take care of yourself. I so wish we were not oceans apart. My neighbor and I often looked after our neighbor with vascular dementia so that his wife could get out.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
