So happy to hear from you Abby. Sounds like your dealing with difficult health issues. Know that I am praying for you. You definitely want to hang onto that quit. Smoking would probably make your lung issues worse. Please keep us up on everything. We care!

Stay focused on the future (without cigarettes) Potts. You have a lot to celebrate 4 mos without cigarettes and 5 semesters of school finished. You have come this far, I am sure you will do well. Go for a walk, take that cute little daughter for an ice cream - just don't give in to that crave. You have got this now. Don't lose that quit! -
And that is what you are - worth more than that cigarette. That freedom is much more rewarding than that cigarette.

Hi Ferimeth, I saw your Nope earlier and thought you were new to the forum. This is a great place for support in your quit. There is lots of information and experiences. I have no doubt you will be successful in your quit because you sound ready and prepared. Once you are free of the nicotine, your faith will help you with the mental challenge of quitting. You sound like such a mature and smart young man for your age. Quitting while you are young is the best thing you can do. Know that we are here to help you on this journey.

Hi Vince and Welcome to the train. This is truly a wonderful place to help you with your quit. I smoked for 42 years and never felt I had the ability to quit. These people helped me realize the possibility. Cigarettes have controlled most of your life. Don't let it be the major reason for the end of your life. You already have been through the tough time and will just have to learn to change your pattern of thinking. Breath deep, feel that clean air sweeping in and out of you lungs and redirect those craving thoughts. Be sure and shout out for any help you need. We are here to help you.

Well JB, I would get right back on the train. Throwing away a 1-1/2 year quit is disappointing. Those cigarettes may taste good and feel good to smoke but you know that is just the junkie thinking part. Concentrate on the reason you quit. I am glad you posted and hope we can, once again, help guide you to freedom.

So happy you are still quit and have returned to the forum. Yes, anxiety is a tough part of quitting but you do not have to go it alone. We have all been there. You have done the tough stuff now. The rest is a matter of redirecting your thoughts. It gets easier every day.

Sounds like our Ohio weather. We may even see snow. Efficacy, be Queen for a while. You are doing the hard work right now. It will all be worth it!

And another day down. That is the way to do it. I actually slept a lot that first couple of weeks. You can do this!

Oh my goodness. That is serious. I think I would be upset with mom. Will be praying for good results.

Awww. Hope she get well soon. Love is the best medicine!

I had tried hypnosis and a smoking cessation clinic, along with the patches and gum. Nothing worked with me. The addiction does work on your self esteem. Like you, I lurked around the forum for a while. I still was not sure I was brave enough when I joined. The people here seem to know exactly what I needed to realize that I had the power to do this. They could see through my frailties and know exactly how to lift me above them. As smokers, we become weak to the addiction. As quitters, we become so much more powerful in every aspect of our lives. When you finally reach that turning point of how you look at your addiction, you realize it was not that difficult. It was just your mind letting you think differently.

Oh efficacy that was me also. I smoked for 42 years and just became so discouraged because I could not quit. Instead, I just stayed home, smoked and became more depressed. Then I stumbled on the quittrain forum and now I am almost 9 mos quit. Hopefully you will begin to love this part of social media. Here you have friends around the world that are going to support you through this major change of your life. So stay focused on that quit, reach out to us and we will help guide you through. The first couple of weeks are tough but the rest is a matter of changing our thinking.

Ugh - bathing suit shopping. Not my favorite thing to do. Other than that, sounds like fun. Safe travels.

Nah. I am a lucky Grandma. Yes I keep telling my husband how lucky he is. We are still working on the May vacation.
-
Just got home. Camping was nice and the doggies loved the dog park there. The weather was warm and we could sit out by the campfires. My husband did drag me to quite a few RV supply stores. Lots of nuts and bolts and RV supply parts. He owes me big time for next trip. I think I should get to pick all the shopping places. We also had a wonderful dinner with my granddaughter and her college roommate. Of course Grandma and Grandpa also took her grocery shopping to replenish the apartment. My husband is making sure he takes all his vacation before he retires. Our next trip is in May!

I am 4 months smoke free !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mee replied to Sunshine59's topic in Celebrations!
It is great that you are 4 mos. smoke free but you need to be nicotine free. You have to realize you will be uncomfortable for a period until you get the nicotine out of your body. I know you can do this. Follow Jillar's lead and start chewing the nicotine free gum. You will feel so powerful when you are finally on the nicotine free path. -
Hi Jeff. I also smoked for over 40 years. I found this great place and finally got the power to quit. Four months quit is great and you got through it on your own. Now, you just have to retrain that mindset. I am sure smoking that long, you were beginning to worry about the effects of smoking and what the quality of your life was going to be. As you travel this journey, keep that at the forefront of your mind. That gives me the power to know that I never want to smoke again. Reach out to us if you are having a difficult time and definitely use this forum for information. Sometimes I think these people here know me better than anyone else in my life. They have held me up and walked me through some difficult situations. I am almost 9 mos. smoke free and I know smoking has no place in my life. I don't need it or miss it. You will get to that point also. Just keep rocking that quit.

Sorry, thought this was cute but won't let me post. I can not figure how to delete it.

MLMR you have such an amazing way with words. I feel the same but just could not find the words to express my feelings. I know smoking is a thing of my past and will never again be a part of my future. I feel like a different person. A healthier person. That piano looks awesome. Keep saving those pennies.
