  1. Oh Kdad. The will is apparently there or you wouldn't be showing up. The only one in control of your life is you. You have arrived at this same fork in the road before. You also know which way you have to go. We can only hope that you choose wisely. We are rooting for you. You succeeded before and we know you can do it again. C'mon Kdad lets get this final quit going!
  2. How true is this. Our battles are not futile!
  3. Hang in there Kate. You are a beautiful and awesome woman. You are so worth a life free of smoking. When everything in crashing in our lives, our self esteem is so low that we try to self destruct. Just like pushing through our craves, we have to push through those tough spots in life. Always know that you have friends here that care. I am so glad that you have reached out and let us know how difficult things have been. I will pray for your health and job. Stay in touch and keep us informed.
  4. @Linda Love, Love, Love your words of wisdom.
  5. Way to go Gus. That is how you keep your quit going. Being able to understand the difference during times of stress and difficulties is a huge win. You've got this!
  6. Welcome Magicalwoodpecker, Good decision to quit. No matter how much you smoke a day, it is detrimental to your health. If you can get through most of the day without smoking, you certainly can carry that through night time. Hang around, educate yourself and get to know us. You can do this.
  7. As addicts, we all struggled to quit. The fact that you are smoking after battling lung cancer is a prime example of how addictive smoking is. I smoked through breast cancer surgery and radiation. My quit finally came after I found this forum. There is plenty of information and support here. You just need to throw those cigarettes away and power through the craves. Make this place your new addiction. Share your feelings and write about your quit journey, help encourage others and play some games. Post an SOS if you feel your are going to smoke. Don't allow your addiction to take up one more minute of your life. You are no different than any of us. You can quit too!
  8. Welcome Barb63! I also was 63 and smoked for 40 years when I finally found my final quit! This forum was essential in guiding me on that journey. It was as if they lifted me up and helped me across the finish line. They were able to let me know that I had the strength and power to quit!. Breath deep and power through those craves. It will get easier. Hang around and shout out if you need us. You can do this too!
  9. Welcome Tara. Congratulations on starting your quit. We love it when new members take part on the forum and share their quit journeys. Every person's quit can be different and can help others. Hang around and get to know us all, educate yourself and play some games.
  10. Great start to your quit Gus. Water is a wonderful way to wash away those craves. Sometimes it is hard not to replace smoking with sweets and that leads to weight gain. Stay close and keep us up on your journey. Your experiences may help someone else that is struggling with quitting.
  11. Welcome Robbie. So glad you found his forum. Plenty of info, support and humor here. I did deal with depression with my quit; but in reality, I had depression before I quit. I am surprised your doctor did not prescribe something to help with the depression. If it continues, maybe try talking to him again. It is normal to experience depression, while quitting. As an addict, we view smoking as a relationship or friendship. Our brains have to work through the loss of something we repeatedly did for many years. You are strong enough to push through those craves. Hang around and get to know us. Post an SOS if you feel like smoking. The journey does get easier.
  12. That is awesome @JackiMac. You were trying to quit at the beginning of my quit. You were struggling so much and disappeared. I am thrilled you were able to find your quit. Hope you hang around and have some fun with us. You definitely would be encouragement to others.
  13. I can grow a pair Here you go Lilly. These little guys got me through my quit. Little did I know that during my quit, I did grow a pair of balls. You will find that at the end of your journey, you are much different than when you started. You will become a stronger, confident person that is in control of your life.
  14. Sending prayers @catlover to you and your sister.
  15. I hope you head back to the train. You had a great quit going. No excused except giving into your addiction.
  16. Oh Lilly, as long as you concentrate on the "what ifs" and all the excuses why you can't quit, you will never quit. We will always welcome you back. We want you to experience the freedom of not being chained to smoking. We have all been where you are. You can quit.
  17. Getting my hair done Saw Bacon trying to get dressed after all those lockdown pounds!
  18. I am picking up the party goers!
  19. Hang in there Linda! You have come so far. You CAN push through those craves!

    Second vaccine

I'm thinking since we have a change of leadership, things are moving better. We have three vaccines (Moderna, Johnson and Johnson and Pfizer) in use now. Our healthcare workers, fire and police, people with extreme health issues and 50-70 year olds. Hang in there reci. Things have got to get better!

    Damn

I am so sorry Jimmy. My heart goes out to you. My dad passed away the day before your father-in-law, March 30th.
  23. Crying and can't believe that I am craving a cigarette. My dad just passed away. I can't tell you how dysfunctional my family is and how difficult it has been over the last five days. I did get the chance to tell my dad I loved him and he finally told me that he loved me. I know that should be enough but I can't seem to get rid of all the hurts. I am hoping now, that the healing will begin.
  24. During my quit, I was addicted to this forum. I finally found a place where I felt confident and encouraged that quitting was possible.
  25. That is wonderful. Congrats on your 5 year quit!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
