  1. Anytime spent with grandchildren is so special. Enjoy making memories with your family!
  2. Welcome Jan. I have tried every one of those quitting remedies and none of them worked. I was not able to quit until I found this wonderful forum. There is a lot of information, support and humor here. They guided me through the difficult days (which really is only hell week) and made me realize that wanting to quit was way more powerful than that crave. Once you get a few weeks under you belt, the rest is really changing your thinking. Quitting smoking changes you life for the better. Just stay close to the forum and call out if you need us. We are there to help you through this journey!
  3. I wonder if this was enough to get him to quit smoking!
  4. I love a hot soak in the tub. I hate showers. My husband always used to tease me and said it was like soaking in ones dirt. Now that he is older, I find him taking many a soak, in the evening to help those sore muscles. FunkyfunJo, that sounds like a great way to relax from the stresses of quitting. Wish I had thought of it. You are doing great. Wasn't it Tony Randall (the actor) that had a child in his 80's. A man is never too young to reporduce.
  5. That is very true FunkyfunJo. You truly have to want to stop smoking. The addiction tries very hard to draw you back in. Being in the right mindset and knowing what you want gives you the power to beat the addiction. How I wish I realized I had that power sooner than I did. I am just thankful I finally had success.
  6. I finally found this for my mom and dad. I was getting so tired of shopping for both of us. Have you seen the new ad by Walmart. They will deliver and put your groceries away, while you are not home. (Creepy).
  7. Nope not today!
  8. Just watched my last grand baby graduate. He grew up so fast. A very special grandson.
  9. Well you know we all expect your secret recipe.
  10. Spirit Airlines passenger banned for life after allegedly vaping on flight http://a.msn.com/01/en-us/AACAOg8?ocid=se This struck me funny. What people do because of their addiction. I can't tell you how many times I thought I could sneak into a bathroom and have a cigarette and nobody would notice. Exhaling into a paper bag. How silly, everyone know a plastic one would have been better.
  11. I am drooling. Looks so delicious.
  12. Welcome George. I am so sorry you have suffered the loss of you beloved spouse to smoking. We all clung to the addiction and looked past the damage it was doing to our lives. I am glad you have your son and Benjie to help you through this difficult time. We are all here for you and anxious to help you rid yourself of tobacco. Read as much as you can about you addiction and stay close to the forum. You will be surprised how much easier it gets every day. Hang tough and reach out to us at any time.
  13. Hello Joel. I have not taken the opportunity to thank you for all you have done. If it was not for this forum, I would not have been able to quit my addiction. The magic of this forum and the wonderful support has lead me through the difficulties of quitting. I had tried hypnosis, smoking cessation and patches and could not be successful. I am now 10 months quit and know that smoking will never be a part of my life again. Thanks so much for sharing your compassion, wisdom and creating this community of support. Linda
  14. FunkyfunJo, glad you saw your physician and you have found that most of your issues were not quitting smoking related. You have a good quit going so don't let those smoking thoughts take over. That is the addiction talking to you. Smoking does nothing but ruin the quality of your life. When you think you are going to give in to those thoughts, post an SOS. We are here to help you. I promise things will get better. Once you rid yourself of this addiction, you gain so much power and self esteem.

    when will i feel good

Richard, you are dealing with so much right now, so please give it some time. You will feel better the further you get away from smoking. We all used smoking when we were nervous because we felt it would calm us. It was more of a mental thing and never really did do the job. As far as the anxiety, I have dealt with that my entire life. I have panic disorder and panic attacks. I have never taken xanax but take a half of a clonzapam (1/2 mg in the morning and 1/2 mg at night). I have done this for years and it controls the panic. I would not take yourself off these meds because most of them you should be weaned off. As far as the opioid scare, as long as you take the medication as recommended there is nothing to worry about. I believe you are past the hell week and should have the nicotine out of your system. Remember quitting is also a mental thing. Your mind is trying to trick you into feeling you need those cigarettes. You need to learn a way to redirect your thinking. Don't let those thoughts overtake your quit. Just keep the thought of your improved life and health for most in your thinking. You are going to come out of this journey so much better. Keep posting and reaching out. We will be there for you. Hang in there.
  16. Welcome Warbelian. Did I miss your introduction. I see you are almost 4 weeks quit. Great going. It starts to get easier after this. Know that we are here to help you in anyway. Please post if you need anything.
  17. Rozuki, this is my favorite time of year. I finally finished planting all my pots. We have had too much rain and some pretty chillly days. I always told my husband that my planting was my mental therapy!
  18. And never forget you always have that friend in Ohio (me). When my husband retires we will have to come out to your neck of the woods!
  19. Do you get to see your mom very often. That is across the continent from you. We have friends like that. They are better than family. You are lucky to have them.
  20. Michelle, I am glad you are back. You would not be here if you did not want to quit so let's get this done. Face the fact it will be tough in the beginning but it is so doable. The benefits are so wonderful. We are here for you. Stay close to the forum. Read about your addiction and call out if you need us.
  21. Sounds like fun. Is you California mom and dad a relation or friends?
  22. That is what we are here for. Do not go it alone. There is so much more strength together. If you continue to be bloated, you might check with your physician. I do remember going through a period like that. Depression comes with quitting because you are saying goodbye to something that you thought comforted you. It was your friend, but in hindsight, it really was you enemy. I am sure you are also grieving the loss of your partner. Post as often as you like. There is always someone around to make you laugh or lift you up. We want you to have success.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
