Brain Fog - The Eighth Level of Hell
Mee replied to Eight-Toe Joe's topic in Introductions & About Us
Maybe I should have tried the porn star generator mine sounds kind of boring Yarr olde name be linda thomas. But we'll now call ye: Melancholy Lea Dagger -
I feel we were in denial. Our heads in the sand. The evil things smoking would do were not going to happen to us. As the years piled on, the fear would creep to the top occasionally but we could push it right back down because of the addiction. Then the view changed and smokers became ostracized and shamed. That is when it really hit home with me. Instead of hiding my head in the sand, I began hiding myself in my home and not smoking around people. The isolation and shame lead to depression. Thank goodness I stumbled upon this forum. Freedom from the addiction is the best!

Brain Fog - The Eighth Level of Hell
Mee replied to Eight-Toe Joe's topic in Introductions & About Us
Welcome 8 toe. So glad you have decided to quit smoking. You have found the right place for help and support. We have all gone through it. I was tired but did not experience the mental fog. 11 days quit is great. Just keep directing your thoughts forward and towards all the benefits associated with quitting. Don''t let that fog make you give in to the crave. I promise your life will improve so much with quitting. Hang in there. -
Diane, so glad you are finally quit. Hunker down and stay strong. It will be difficult for the first couple of days but so worth it. I did sleep a lot the first couple of days but I was glad to do so. It helped avoid the other discomforts of quitting. I was also crabby for a couple of months. Stay close to the forum and we will help support you along the way.

When did you feel like the worse was behind you
Mee replied to Diane R's topic in Quit Smoking Discussions
Diane, things will not improve until you stop smoking altogether. There will be a rough few weeks but once you brace the suck and quit, you just keep looking forward. Looking forward to a life without a smoking related illness or possibly a longer much healthier life. I smoked for 42 years and was so depressed and discouraged that I could not quit. I was so embarrassed and ashamed that I continued to smoke knowing that it would most likely lead to a terrible end. I was lucky to find the forum. To answer your question, yes it was tough for about a month. Once the nicotine is out of your body, you just keep redirecting those thoughts to your new and improved life. -

Richard, so happy to see you are still quit. 54 days is awesome. You are in your second month now and fogginess is definitely a part of that. I promise every day will get better. I remember sleeping a lot the first month. Breath deep and concentrate on knowing how you are improving your life. It seemed like yesterday I started my journey and I am now coming upon my year anniversary. Time begins to move quicker and life becomes so much better.

Thinking of you and praying you are safe.

I was thinking the same thing jillar.

Those would be great for hiding the back end I have acquired lately.

Nope for me!

Good to hear jillar. I had no idea you were worried about that. You had a cleaning business. God bless you. That is hard and repetitive work. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Article From the Board
Mee replied to MichelleDoesntSmokeAnymore's topic in Quit Smoking Discussions
This lady never thought quitting was going to happen. Here I am at 11 months smoke free and the thoughts of smoking again are a thing of the past. I know it was very difficult for about two months. I was very crabby and difficult to live with. Now I feel more free and know I will never visit this part of my life again. I love to see the newbies appear and help them to find the same freedom. -
Finally Ready. Day One

I think the NRT helps people wean off the nicotine. Eventually you do want it gone. This is you journey, so you will have to decide your path. Once the nicotine is out of your body, quitting is just a matter of redirecting your thoughts. Don't let this addiction control your life anymore. You can do this. -
Michelle, you can fight that crave. I can only promise you each day will get better but the tough stuff is in the beginning. It is great that you posted an sos. I found that if I breathed deep and thought about the clean air, I would relax.
