    True or False

False I always loved to cook, I hate the grocery shopping! TNP has eaten frog legs
  2. I am saying #3. I can't picture you in a convent.
  3. Good for you Michelle. You are doing great.
  4. Sweetie, only you can let them to do that. With my family, it was their way or the highway. If I tried to stand up for myself, they would cut me off. I spent my lifetime trying to prove what a wonderful person I was. That was a lot of wasted time because they were not going to change. If setting boundaries means the loss of them in your life, then that is best for you. You deserved to be loved and respected.

    True or False

True only in my youth. Now I have saggy old lady ones and would not think of going without support. TNP has something pierced other than the ears.
  6. Ankush, sounds like your mom most likely always does a number on your self esteem. She is definitely not a loving, supportive parent. You are not quitting smoking for her or any of these other people who are undermining you. You are quitting for you. I can tell you that, when I quit, I was taking care of two very unloving parents, who could do a real job on my self esteem. Due to their age and health, I was going out of my way to accommodate them. I allowed them to use me and emotionally abuse me. During my quit journey, I finally realized the strong person I was. I take care of me first and I do not let them control me anymore. What your are doing right now is outstanding. You are quitting an addiction, which is not an easy feat. Be proud of yourself and do not let anyone undermine that. Everyday you avoid those cigarettes you are gaining so much power and control over you life. You will find that those people will no longer be able to control your feelings.

  19. Don't you have Costco Wholesale in Canada? We buy a smaller leg there. My husband cuts it down and he makes shish ka bob with it on the grill. We also buy the rack of lamb and cut them into small chops for on the grill. Reci, you and my hubby would make great grilling partners. He is retiring soon and we will have to visit your neck of the woods when we start our RV travels. I definitely could not eat bear!

  21. I love your motivation also Michelle. Keep telling yourself all those things. The rewards in quitting are immense. I do think you should treat yourself a little though. There must be something you like to do that you don't always leave time for. Now is the time to pamper yourself.

  23. Michelle, every crave you push through, you become stronger. Bring that monster down in size. He is only as big as you allow him to be.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
