Irene, it was the humor that pulled me into this site and then the next thing I knew, I quit. The people here became so important to me that I wanted to keep the journey going. Many of us that smoke do not have a lot of self esteem and feel we do not have the willpower. The members here know how to direct you to that power within. Hang around, we want so much to see you succeed. It really is much easier than you think!

@joe he is absolutely adorable. I am sure he is up there in your heart like the grandkids!

Don't even think that! That is the addict giving you permission to smoke! You can do this darcy. Stay close, we will guide you through. There may be a few tough days but once that nicotine is gone, you can change the thoughts.!

Hey Irene, I smoked for 42 years and could not quit until I landed on this forum. Everyone that attempts to quit consumes their minds with that last cigarette and thinking it takes so long to not crave them anymore. Surprisingly it did not take that long for either. It takes a couple of days to get the nicotine out of your systems and then you learn to redirect those craves. Come here and post an SOS if you feel the need to smoke, we are very good at letting you know why you do not need to smoke. Stay close to the forum and have fun playing some games. You can do this.

Welcome jw0510. Four days quit is great because those are the tough ones. Once the nicotine is out of your system, it is a matter of changing those craving thoughts. Concentrate on your body cleaning out and breathing in the fresh air. Each day you add to you quit, the more powerful you become. Keep posting those SOS and we will help guide you through them. You can do this!

I felt very jittery, like I could jump out of my skin. I was crabby too and constantly bit my poor husbands head off. I was tired so I napped a lot. Each day without cigarettes does get better. after the first week. Just keep looking ahead with confidence. You can do it!

Pumkin, I normally don't have problems with my skin but did when I quit. I felt it was that ugly crap coming out of my body. It also could be the stress and anxiety that comes with quitting. You are doing great. Just keep looking forward and this, too shall pass!

Welcome Butterfly. Any day to quit is a good day. You have lots of good info already. The first week is the toughest. Stay focused on the goal and you will do fine. When I quit, I bobbed around on the forum every day. I got to know people, read everything and enjoyed the games and humor. Everyone encouraged me and let me know I had the power to do it. You have that power also. You can do this!

Way to go Gene. That is the quitting attitude! It is hard to stand back and look at things logically when you have that nicotine playing with your brain.
