Your excuses as to why you can't quit will always come before your quit....unless you just quit! All these difficult things will always pop up in your life and you will have to power through them. SMOKING does not make these situations better. Most of us spent too many years making excuses and thinking the bad things were not going to happen. Many of us have suffered health issues due to our smoking and some are not longer here. You can be free of your addiction but you have to commit to quitting.

Oh sweetpea, I am so sorry for the loss of your child and understand the grief must have been awful. You are young and have so much life ahead of you. Overcoming your addiction is one of the best things you can do for yourself and any future pregnancies. Unfortunately, you just need stop and power through the craves. I smoked for 42 years and found this forum to work miracles for me. There is wonderful friendship and support here. We all would love to help you on this journey. Stay close to the forum and educate yourself. You can do this!

48 hours smoke free is awesome. Concentrate on going forward and don't look back. If you give into the crave or allow someone to sabotage your quit, you will just keep finding yourself at the same place. As you build your quit, thinking of smoking will not consume your thoughts. Stay strong and keep that quit going!

Fluffyyellowduck you are giving those people the power to control your life. I came from a very dysfuntional family that was emotionally draining to me. I lived a life full of put downs and I wasted so much time trying to have a normal life with them. As I travelled my quit journey, I became stronger and did not allow my family to control every aspect of my life. Of course, as you gain strength, the people who abuse you are going to fight harder to keep you down. If your friends or family aren't serving your best interest, sometimes it is better to walk away. When you are finally at the right place in your own life, you will find that they can't control you anymore.

Welcome fluffyyellowduck! Smoking really messes with your self esteem. I smoked for 42 years and failed every attempt to quit until I landed here! I was so ashamed that I was so addicted to something that was killing me. My friends here showed me that I mattered and that I had the strength to quit. As you travel this journey, you will become stronger and more powerful. You can do this. Stay close to the forum and shout out as you need us.

We went and picked up toys to donate for Toys for Tots for Christmas. I haven't felt this excitement in a long time. Look at the cute doll with a golden retriever! It was all I could do to hold back from playing with her. Some little boy will have fun with this remote control car. I was in awe how big it is and that it goes over rocks! Love spending my quit savings to bring some happiness.

@Cbdave found this recipe and thought I would try it for Christmas. Bet it is just like a Reese Peanut Butter cup. BUCKEYE COOKIES 1 box fudge brownie mix 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips 4 oz. cream cheese softened 1 cup of peanut butter 1/4 cup of butter, melted 1 cup of powdered sugar 1 large egg Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine brownie mix, butter, cream cheese and egg in medium bowl using mixer. Scoop the dough onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Makes about 24 cookies Mix powdered sugar with creamy peanut butter in another bowl. Shape mixture into 24 balls of approximately 1 inch and set aside. Bake cookies for about 15 minutes, careful not to overbake. Place a peanut butter ball gently into the center of every cookie as soon as cookies come out of oven. Peanut butter will melt slightly. Let cool 5 minutes. Melt chocolate chips for 30-50 seconds in a microwave safe bowl, stirring frenquently till the chocolate chips are completelly melted. Spoon about half a tsp. of melted chocolate to cover the peanut butter. Let cool to set.

Keep that attitude Sneaky Turtle. I think addressing my self esteem, played a big part in my success in quitting. I had long given up on myself because I felt hopelessly addicted to smoking and worthless. Those feeling then spilled over into many aspects of my life and gave me the excuse to keep smoking. The friendships I gained here was my turning point. They made me realize that I was so worth the quit. As those quit days accumulate the more powerful you become. You can be stronger than those craves.

I also stayed close to the forum. My new friends here boosted my confidence and kept me laughing. They showed me that I was stronger than my crave and so worth a life of freedom from smoking. Keep that wonderful quit going.
