  1. Here they are - my son and husband cooking in one of his favorite skillets outdoors. He has every size cast iron and his cornbread has to have bacon it. His favorite has bacon and chives in it. We also have one with sweet potato. He is like you. He creates them but doesn't write them down. We will try and adapt them for you. I agree with you. The cast iron is so heavy. He has one that I love to do a pork roast in but I actually have to have him lift it in and out of the oven!
  2. Now that sounds good. ! Never would of thought putting peas in a fritter.
  3. I don't know of it being an American thing but as far as I'm concerned they can keep it over there.
  4. My husband loves cast iron corn bread. He has some great recipes. He will love to make this one. He is the king of cast iron cooking. We are celebrating our Thanksgiving Saturday, which means I still have time to try the Cranberry/Orange Relish. I have a feeling my son would love that! Thanks for the recipes.
  5. A pea that has been mushed?
  6. Sounds great - your are welcome at our table. We need to make a rule that recipes should always be accompanied!
  7. Nope!
  8. Glad you are hanging in there, Parsley. Yuck on the snow. Snow on Thanksgiving - I thought we all were suppose to have a mild winter this year. Keep looking for those positives. There are so many!!
  9. Nope... Hello!
  10. That is exactly how I was thinking. I just never seemed strong enough to quit. So what have I learned. I am stronger than I thought and never too old to change. That there is this wonderful community of ex smokers who have been able to make me realize that I can do this. That I can also help someone else realize their self worth and guide them on the journey to freedom of addiction. I've also learned the importance of
  11. Nope!
  12. Oh no Parsley. I am in my 4th month and have noticed many more crave days. They are manageable though. You are doing so great so keep hanging tough.
  13. Oh Lilly, you go girl. You've got this now. You can tell the difference in your posts. You have that "I've got this confidence". You are over the tough stuff. The rest is easy.
  14. Nope!
  15. Hi Sandy. First of all, you should be very proud of yourself for quitting smoking after so many years. I am working on my 4th month and I too am finding myself really tired. As others suggested, I have to force myself to do one chore a day. I have been working on ridding my house of smoke. Even if I wash a small section of wall a day, it helps keep me moving. It is amazing how much the glass shines when you get rid of that smoke film! So glad you have joined the forum. Great group of people here. Hopefully we can help you along your quit smoking journey. Linda
  16. Kdad, I feel the same about this forum. I know that if I had not stumbled across it, I would still be smoking. These wonderful friends, from around the world guided me through the difficulties of quitting smoking and made me feel the true strength inside me. Pledging and helping others continues to solidify your own quit.
  17. Kate, So terribly sorry about the loss of you dad. I bet this is especially tough during the holidays. I am glad you have come to realize the health costs of smoking. You do not have to wait to become a part of the forum. We would love to follow you on your journey of ridding yourself of this addiction. There is so much information here and lots of friendship. We are a great support system. We have all been through the withdrawal and come out on the other side. Linda
  18. You are doing great Freedom. I can tell you I slept the first three days and was very tired. You are almost through the first week, which is the toughest. Just hang tough. Savoring a little smoke when you walked by was much better than smoking. I found I did not like the smell of second hand smoke the second month. Having a wonky stomach might be a good thing because a lot of us turned to chocolate or fattening foods to distract from the craves. You might not gain weight. I promise the journey is going to get better and easier. Keep us posted on how you are doing. Way to go Freedom!
  19. He likes being single. He is 38. He had his heart broken years ago. I also don't think he will find a girl now because he has stinky ferrets as pets. He has promised me Thanksgiving will be fun this year. He says if Grandma gets out of line, he is going to let his stinky rodents loose!?
  20. Nope. Smoking no longer consumes my mind!
  21. I drove school bus for 30 years. Do you know how this brings the memories back. I can truly say that most of the window lickers grew up to be pretty awesome people.
  22. How exciting. Hope it is a beautiful, fun filled event. Safe travels for a holiday week. I quit at 4:00 pm on August 1st, 2018 I am working on my 4th month. It blows me away that I am a nonsmoker. I don't have too many craves and they are manageable. My single son just moved into a newer ranch style home. He is all excited about having Thanksgiving at his new home. He is even building his own dining room table. He shouted out for Dad's help this weekend, so it may just get done on time. Mom may have to get up super early to help him stuff the bird but I'm sure he will do a wonderful job. This may be one of our most memorable holidays.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
