  1. Merry Christmas and thank you for all you do Doreen.
  2. Sal, here`s hoping you didn`t give in to the crave but if you did people are still here to help. Toss them out and start over. You wouldn`t be the first to fail here. We have all done it. This isn`t easy but it is well worth it and it will become easier with time. Best wishes and let us know. Failing is nothing to be ashamed of. If you really want to stop giving up is. You can do this. A few bumps in the beginning but it will get manageable.

  5. Welcome Sal. Linda got it right saying read about addiction. Knowledge plays an important role understanding addiction but if you really want this you can do it. I quit at 66 after a long time smoking and wish I had done it sooner so it can be done. If you have tried before and failed don`t give up. Most of us are in the same boat. Lots of support here so stick around and stay close. Best wishes.
  6. Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all.

  9. Congratulations Kenzie on keeping the quit. I wouldn`t worry too much about putting on some weight in the early stages of quitting unless it is a major health concern. You can keep healthier crave snacks around for the craves and perhaps you are doing this already. keep the quit as main priority as you are doing. Best wishes and stay strong.

  16. Congratulations on the twenty year mark. I would say "you got this" Best wishes.
  17. NOPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I did not smoke yesterday!
  18. I also cut way back for a time and it never worked for me either. I would smoke 1 to 3 a day. Take a few puffs and put it down and save it for later. A bad day comes along and and I would smoke 10 or more. It is very tough at first to get your mind set and fight through the crave to smoke but you can do it. None of us that have quit own any special ability except we just had it with the back and forth stop and start. Best wishes in your quest to find that. Keep in mind that to keep trying no matter how many times you do this is a victory of sorts and better than giving up. Hang in there and stay strong. It will happen if you keep at it.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
