Glad to know you tided over this crave, that's what sticking up for your quit means. You're doing amazingly well, both as someone who's trying to kick the habit and as a human being. Kudos!!!

  17. What an amazing inspirational post Jo, you're a strong, determined and awesome gal...super awesome actually. And yes, we all are dealing with a lot of things but it takes courage and lucidity of thought to put this out here, and it inspires people. I keep having Triggers nowadays (not cravings) of smoking, and all I have to do is close my eyes and say a firm no, and poof, they vanish. It's not easy saying no sometimes, but I remember why I said no in the first place. I don't want to ever again be a slave to this disgusting habit, I never want to stink till the high heavens, lose my breath climbing 2 flights of stairs (I still do, but that's because of my weight :p ) Mainly, I don't want to feel compelled to act like a tripped out zombie if I don't get my "fix", be irritable, lurk in corners, hide that smoke when I see kids and elderly people (reflex action). So thank you for sharing, makes me realize that I cannot let my mind use any instance in my life to lead me to light up a smoke. That's not happening, ever.

  23. Absolutely something we're doing what was done for us when we joined. We're all in this together Cader, and we've all had our journeys and battles. This forum provided excellent support to me when I was starting out on my quit, and has never stopped supporting me since. I am fairly new in my quit, however I feel amazed by the grit and resilience that people have here, and that motivates me to just clench my teeth and go on, whenever a craving strikes. Pretty soon, you're gonna be welcoming new members yourself.
  24. Welcome Cader, what an amazing decision to take, very commendable. You're making the absolute right choice not just for your baby's health, but yours too. He/She deserves a healthy, happy momma Just like Jillar said, loads of water and sweets, avoiding the places you associate with smoking. Also, since it's more mind over matter than anything else, please remember that any and every craving that you have going forward, typically only lasts 3-5 minutes. Distract yourself whenever these happen (watch videos, play a game, make a list of girl/boy names, whatever catches your fancy). You'll find that post those 3 odd minutes, you're ok. And those 3 minutes will get easier as time goes by. Have your reason to quit firmly in your mind, or better still, if you want write it in bold letters, and place it everywhere you can see it. Just a good way to remind yourself why you won't give in to your cravings. Best of luck, please shout out (regardless of the time, hour or the instances) whenever you need someone to talk to, or certainly post an SOS when you think you are about to smoke. We're here for you. Best of luck and once again, welcome aboard.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
