  1. Congratulations Rose on 7 months of staying fantastically quit. Hope you do something special to celebrate this great achievement...
  2. Yes my friend, that is phenomenal...You're a star, shining bright and showing others the way. The support and friendship you offer is amazing, it takes a special person who is able to take time out to help others while managing to keep your quit. @Sslip , I'm indeed honoured to know you and share this journey with you. You've helped me when I've stumbled, been there to spar with me on CoS and overall been a great quit buddy. So Congratulations mate. Looking forward to the day you step on to the Lido Deck!!!

0 Hey @Sslip yes thank you, had a good day yesterday Traditionally it's the day we eat way too many sweets and especially in my case drink way too much whiskey...but all in all it was nice.
  6. Good question, and not really someone qualified to answer, still way too young in my quit. However I think (and this is based on a recent super intense crave episode) the starting point of the relapse is what is crucial to identify. We long for familiarity in unfamiliar or stressful situations, and in such cases, whether months or years after your quit, the brain automatically rewinds to the "familiar" which was lighting up. Regardless of whether that helped or not, it was just the next "natural" thing to do. So maybe that pattern is sometimes hidden for years and suddenly comes to the fore. It's like the brain trying to comfort itself by saying, the last time you did this action, and were able to get through, so let's rinse and repeat, in a manner of speaking. The fact is the last time and each time, the only way out is through, so one has to deal with situations. Having a cigarette in my hand won't change the dynamics of the problem, but yes that's the fight we gotta win each time.

  16. @WeegieWoman 1 year is huge!!! Congratulations, you deserve the accolades for the determination and persistence you've shown to beat the habit for an entire year. Wowzers. And you're amazing around the forums, thank you for the support and love you share. I shall be toasting you tonight, hope you are celebrating too.
  17. MLMR, Having recently had the benefit of your support in one of my weaker moments, I can tell you without a doubt that I tided over thanks to the support of everyone on here, and i'm glad I did. You've already chosen to fight for your quit, so you're definitely a few steps ahead of me...and I am not making this a race, but more of an evolution. Whatever may be the reason, trust me it just doesn't dissolve by smoking. If that were the case, WWII would have been sorted out in smoking rooms. You're stronger than whatever you are facing right now...I believe in you and your quit. Together, we shall overcome.
  18. hi Foe, Welcome aboard!!! I have nothing new to tell you since you have a good experience of quitting. Just keep that feeling in mind of not being a slave to this habit to, if you're going through a hard day, smoking meant taking time out to go screw your lungs, when you came back, the problem was still there. And trust me I get the feeling where it doesn't matter if there's logic in not throwing your quit away, I have been through that, still go through that sometimes...but when you do feel that, hop on here, and you will get the support to ride the storm out. Best of luck.
  19. I'm here

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
