Defeat after defeat
MichelleDoesntSmokeAnymore commented on MichelleDoesntSmokeAnymore's blog entry in Michelle's No Smoking Blog
Thank you for sharing Christian! I'm embarrassed to admit that about ten years ago I started jogging. After my jog I'd light a cig. Madness. Insanity. And I knew it but I was at that time unable to stop. This time around I have drastically changed my diet so its very cool you suggested doing the same thing. I can only exercise a little, as my mobility is severely limited due to the need for major surgery but I hope to get in with a physical therapist soon and ask them to tell me what exercises I *can* safely do. Sounds like I'm on the right track since it worked for you! 17.5 years quit...that is AMAZING. I'll follow in your footsteps!!! -
Or good afternoon, depending on where you are. I'm on PST so its 8:30am. I hope everyone is doing well! I sure am! Have a great, smoke-free day!

Is it just me or.....
MichelleDoesntSmokeAnymore replied to MichelleDoesntSmokeAnymore's topic in Quit Smoking Discussions
Thanks for the reply but no, thats not it...I noticed this several years ago. I started reading up on it after I posted this...sounds like the tobacco industry started adding things to them to make them more addictive, starting in the 90s. -

in the 70s, cigarette smoke didn't smell of chemicals? I grew up in a house with three adults smokers and while the smoke was unpleasant and irritating to my nose and lungs as a child, I don't remember the chemical smell they have today. Someone can light one two blocks away and you can smell it.

Thanks @Linda Thomas but taking it casually hasn't worked for me. Each hour is a victory so I want to acknowledge it -

Craving Again
MichelleDoesntSmokeAnymore replied to MichelleDoesntSmokeAnymore's topic in The S.O.S. Board
Thanks. I'm making it a habit to post when I have a craving instead of having the intention of posting when I'm GOING to smoke. Gotta do something different. Its easing up. The more I read and post on the board the easier it gets. Once I get past about day three or four it should get easier. I'm still wearinng the patch but by then the psychological part should ease up a little. During my last significant quit I had absolutely no desire. I could be around people smoking, even had one offered to me by people who didn't know I'd quit and it was easy to not smoke. So I know it will get better...its just hard going through the initial phase. I have to remember the freedom I got from smoking, the longer I was quit. Just like drugs and alcohol....they say the further you get from your last use, the easier it becomes to say no. -
I'm not in danger of smoking cuz I still don't have any or have the means to get any....but despite my overall resolve I'm romanticizing the cigarette. STOP MICHELLE STOP

I smell of Pantene shampoo and conditioner...my favorite...nice clean smell.

richard is 2 Months Smoke Free Today!
MichelleDoesntSmokeAnymore replied to Reciprocity's topic in Celebrations!
richard...this is AMAZING. This is HUGE. If you can do two months, you can keep doing one day at a time, one hour at a time, one minute at a time, until the end of your time here on Earth. And if you can stay quit for two whole months, I can do it too (currently at 14 hours) Congratulations...please keep going!
