  1. All true. So true. It's hard to remember these in the thick of it... I recognize several of these on my thoughts.
  2. Yeah, just about every craving I get now is because I'm bored.
  3. The last eleven days have been the longest eleven days ever. Man! Quitting smoking will definitely make you aware of how much down time you have when you're not smoking. I've never been so bored in my life! LOL! It gets tiring trying to constantly fill my waking minutes with stuff to do so I don't think about smoking. I've watched A LOT of television, which I almost never do. (Binge-watching Game of Thrones again.) But, you can only sit still or play handheld games but for so long before the body demands movement.
  4. Must not be TOO dim... you're doing great, Rusty!! I'm so proud of us. Look at us not smoking!!
  5. Ok. Im still laughing. This made me snort out my coffee. I love it. Between this post and your PM, I think you may very well have given me my power back. I need to anthropomorphize this addiction and get mad. Really, UGLY mad at that jerk, and I'm going to get quite petty about his mess too. It's insane now that I think about it, but I'm not the one who is struggling. I'm doing just fine, thank you very much. The addiction, though. HE is squirming.
  6. The good news is that I'm able to not think about smoking for longer than a few minutes. The quit is slowly getting easier and easier. The bad news is that every so often I'll get a craving that I swear is as powerful as if I were still physically addicted. Today, for instance, I went out on my lunch break to look for a pair of heels to wear to a wedding. No issues driving there. No issues walking around the shopping mall. No issues trying on multiple pairs of shoes in multiple shops. Honestly, smoking was just a passing thought when I would leave a shop, but I easily dismissed it and walked on to the next shop. But then, after not finding what I wanted and deciding to head back to the office, I walked outside and BAM! The craves hit me like a ton of bricks. I mean, no amount of deep breathing was gonna fix it. The only thing I could do was just suffer through it. Got in the car, turned the radio up REALLY LOUD, and screamed along to the words of the music trying to relieve the sense of pressure. Cravings are stressful, they really are. I'm still a non-smoker. Just not always real comfortable with it yet.
  7. @rustycolts - YOU MADE IT! A WHOLE WEEK! Congratulations, Rusty! Hell week is over!

  14. Everything. Literally everything. LOL! Waking up. Coffee. Eating. Driving. Working. Drinking. Television. Laughing. Crying. Stressful situations. Fun situations. Hugs. If I'm to change my routine, then I'm with Rusty... a three-month medically-induced coma sounds pretty good right about now. LOL!
  15. I'm terribly sorry, Doreen.
  16. Clarosa, you are so brave to come to a social forum after feeling attacked somewhere similar. I, too, was a member of another forum before joining up here. I can tell you that I LOVED my previous group, but there were times that I felt criticized for my thoughts. Or huge on-line wars of words would be waged between members who maybe disagreed on the "best" and/or "worst" ways to quit. On that, I can share three thoughts: 1.) I have seen nothing but complete acceptance and total support by the wonderful members of this board. 2.) There ain't no such thing as a bad way to quit. 3.) These types of quit smoking forums are frequented by addicts like us who are usually in the throes of withdrawal or some other emotional side-effect of kicking the habit... so there's bound to be the occasional misunderstanding or harsh word. Try not to let it get to you. You sound like you really, really want this quit to be successful. Stay close to this forum, and I am confident you will win this one!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
