  1. I can't. Lilly, I'm so proud of you. I've been watching your quit since day 1, and I'm so glad you've stuck it out! The first month is a HUGE milestone! You can do this! Keep pushing forward, my friend.
  2. Congratulations!!! Your quit is full term!
  3. YES! ^^This!^^ I was watching tv the other night, and I swear I saw at least 5 Juul commercials in the space of 2 hours. Why is it ok to advertise these but not cigarettes? Seems hypocritical to me. NOT that I want to see cigarettes advertised. I just don't see one as better than the other. Merely my opinion, of course.
  4. I know what you mean, Lilly. My husband used to ask why I didn't try vaping instead of smoking cigarettes. (He can't stand the smell of cigarettes.) I told him that no other form of nicotine had the same effect. I tried vaping. I didn't see the appeal. Cigarette smoking is a complex addiction. Of course there is the addictive substance, nicotine, to deal with. But then there is the act of smoking--by that I mean the physical act--that is appealing to smokers. There is the habit of smoking--all of the places, events, etc. that trigger the desire for a smoke. And there are the cigarettes themselves--the taste, the brand, the buzz. It's all evil, I tell you!
  5. NOPE-ity NOPE NOPE NOPE
  6. Peanut head. I'm totally going to use that!
  7. Congratulations, fellow Ashkicker! You're doing so great!!!
  8. I've got it in my signature now!
  9. @notsmokinjoI love it!!!!!
  10. Welcome, Steveo! I can tell you that the ability to breathe freely is one of the greatest gifts we have. We have to never take it for granted. I suffer from the rare autoimmune disease systemic scleroderma, and it attacks my lungs and makes breathing difficult at times. I have trouble walking from one room to another on really bad days. Walking a hill--forget it! You want to keep walking those hills, my friend. You want to cherish those precious lungs of yours and say goodbye to those nasty death sticks once and for all. I would love to support you in this. We all would!
  11. I think it takes immense courage to reach out and ask for help, perhaps even moreso in the later days of the quit. People expect to hear a lot of SOSes from those in the first days and weeks of a quit, but sometimes people need help months--even years--down the line. Life gets hard. Curveballs get thrown. And we are addicts for life, so we will need a little extra boost to get through the hard times. Kudos on you for asking for help. I'm sorry I missed this when it was first posted, but I'm glad to see you using the board. It works!
  12. Way to go, Wantsit!!!!!!!! Almost to the halfway point through the first year. Full steam ahead!
  13. NOPE--not even once!
  14. We will need someone far more tech-savvy than myself to come up with a logo!
  15. I like Ashkickers, myself. I'm sure it's been used at some point, though. Or maybe X-Smokers. (Like X-Men.)
  16. 1st March? Are you sure? I'm back after being sick for two weeks, and I'm so ready to make my pledge today! NOPE
  17. Congratulations!!!! That's a beautiful quit you have there!!!
  18. Congratulations! One year--that's amazing stuff!!!
  19. Great job! Those first 2 weeks are tough, and you kicked their butts!
  20. Congratulations!!!!!! That year mark is getting closer and closer!
  21. Yep. I'm tooting my own horn! I think I've earned it. Thanks for being here to celebrate with me! I consider the first 3 months to be one of the toughest hurdles. I've sailed over that puppy and am heading confidently into my smoke-free future!
  22. NOPE. I'm way too sick to smoke! Uggg
  23. @Jordan7 Thank you for checking in! I have an appointment to see the pulmonologist on May 8. I'll keep everyone posted as to what I find out. Right now I'm dealing with a nasty cold. Been in bed for a few days. I'm just so glad I don't smoke anymore! I can't believe I used to try to smoke when I was sick! Ugh!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
