  1. Guys, please don't finish all the crimes by yourselves. I'm trying hard to join you.
  2. @Kris, your neighborhood sounds like the place I'd like to move to.
  3. @Gus, Sounds like you may be starting to enjoy the job a tiny little bit. If that's the case then isn't it wonderful. I remember the day you posted when you were still interviewing.
  4. @Gus, Congratulations on the job! I was thinking the other day when I read about your job that you're brave to be willing to spend a full day with pre-school kids. I would be terrified of entering that class and yes, for sure would feel harried and agitated. Kids have always been able to bully me and I don't have a clue how to respond other than to let them. Admire your courage for doing what you're doing and surviving it without giving in. Hope to see more updates.
  5. If you run out, remember there are neighbors ... on the same side of the street AND other side of the street. Hopefully, they're nice and will offer you food on their own. If not .... well, there are other ways of getting to their pantry. Sounds like an idea.
  6. Nope!
  7. @jillar, too cute. I can't see my badge anywhere. What's the point of one if you cannot see it?
  8. @Doreensfree I think I will forever see your handle and visualize this expression.
  9. Just the pillow? Always? Do share if there were occasions when the pillow wasn't handy.
  10. You wouldn't be laughing at me now, would you?
  11. Haven't started a thread in maybe 4 years, some months I think - like never. So I need to practice what I preach and boldly go where timid folks have not gone before ... and start a thread. Whew, that's a huge one. I have new respect for folks who can start threads like eating candy. (ps. please please promotion gods, notice I have started a thread).
  12. Haha, would you believe it? I just got promoted to ..... drum roll ... Conversation Starter. And all I had to do was write a post that contained a number of correct keywords (new thread). Edit: No fair - got the notification but it's not showing. More Edit: Oh, it's a badge and not a rank - didn't know we had 2 things going. @jillar you were right about a game within a game.
  13. Here are some ideas - each need to be in a different forum. New thread - Going for a walk. Invite people to post here before going for a walk. Post temp, humidity, are you looking forward or dreading .... New thread - Back from the walk. Share walk experience. Did you meet an aggressive dog or cute guy/chick. New thread - Going to washroom. Is it occupied and do you have to wait? What is your condition while waiting. What caused the ....you know ...pressure. New thread - Bristol Chart analysis. .... you get the idea. C'mon bunny, let's go!
  14. Game on @jillar. I think @Kris starts more threads - perhaps they count for more points. No promotion for me today (was getting used to getting them daily - it's like withdrawal, I want my PROMOTION).
  15. Awww .. I agree. So cute.
  16. @Kris, Hiiiii .... of course you can call me D2. In a loving tone would be good too. Liking the butter violence. Just curious if someone was able to eat the butter after? (As long as the counter and hand were clean you know ... or not too dirty.) Don't really have triggers now although life tried a bit the last couple of years.
  17. Congratulations @Kris. 10 days is awesome. Why not get a ticker so you see the counts going up. It's a great motivator really.
  18. @Kris, I got quite angry that I couldn't quit and kept failing. Somehow, I was able to channel that anger (luck mostly because I can't honestly say it was part of the master plan) against the Trigger. I would visualize myself holding a hammer and hitting the Trigger violently while screaming (in my mind most times but I know I let it out once or twice at the office startling coworkers) - DIE TRIGGER DIE. For variation I would hit a toothpaste watching it squeeze out with every hit (this was strictly at home and had to start buying toothpaste at Costco to keep up). If violence appeals ,,. just sayin'. Otherwise there are other more peaceful ways like eating.
  19. @Kris the race is on Please bring your A game as @jillar is a hard competitor. I'm starting to settle for watching the tail.
  20. @StevenHere, Congratulations on 2 weeks quit! And welcome. Notice you added the ticker - it's a great motivator to see the counters moving up, I used to look forward to hitting the milestones. Stay close to this forum, post often, doesn't matter what it is and yes, please use the SOS before going to the store. Someone will jump in to help you get past the crave.
  21. Nope!
  22. Congratulations @Gus. So happy to hear the news. And yes, we will miss you. Whenever you do come here, please do some speed typing (autocorrections welcome - just avoid saying 'kicking butt' to people).
  23. @Kris, Congratulations! This is the toughest week and you did it. Please continue to stay strong and alert. Great to see you celebrating the milestones!
  24. I find it hard to motivate myself also which is why I watch the videos of these amazing runners. That way, for the next couple of runs I imagine myself running with the same effortless grace (although in reality it's still the slow tortured shuffle that I like to pretend is a run).

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
