  1. Congratulations on 6 months @AceWhite
  2. Awesome @IamMommaBear
  3. Congratulations @Robbie
  4. Awesome @Katgirl. I know you were looking forward to it. Don't you have to train first 'before' climbing Mt. Everest
  5. The 1 meal feels normal now and the idea of eating multiple times a day does not - amazing how quickly the body adapts. There are no hunger pangs, in fact the tummy feels quite content all day. Takeout does not agree with the digestion as well as home cooked food and since I don't really do much cooking, will need to find a way to get more home food. Lunch time is a 2 hour affair now. About an hour to prep and an hour to eat. It's nice to eat slow and enjoy every bite.
  6. Nope!
  7. Awesome @Dianne. You got that right - smoking will not solve anything but WILL make you feel bad about losing the quit. At least you can tackle the problems knowing you still have something to be proud about.
  8. @IamMommaBear, so glad to see you posted an SOS here. These are the steps to getting to your final quit. We were smokers for many years and there are many triggers that will cause us to crave. Each time you overcome the crave, you get stronger and the crave gets weaker so it gets easier to deal with the next crave. There are many here who smoked for 30, 40+ years and managed to quit successfully. You're doing it too. Stay close to this board for the 1st few weeks.
  9. Nice discussion. They didn't go as deep into the medical benefits of cell autophagy but they did look at different aspects of fasting which I enjoyed. Including the negatives - that's something definitely to be aware of. Completed a 2-day fast today and it was good to learn that it's possible to do it while maintaining normal activity. Will stick with omad for the next few weeks and then try a 3-day fast next. It's a bit like quitting in a way - I used to crave snacks at night and for the 1st few days that was the hardest part. There's the same pride of being able to overcome the crave.
  10. Nope!
  11. @Katgirl Sorry to hear what you're going through. Is it good to take antibiotics (and other meds) on empty stomach?
  12. Sorry to hear about the flare ups @Dianne. Hope you feel better. I think it makes a difference if you HAVE to fast vs you CHOOSE to fast. For me it's something new and my choice so I look forward to it. I am in the middle of a 48hr fast - the last meal was yesterday and the next one will be tomorrow. Also did a distance run on the trail today (7.5miles) just to see how the body reacts and all seems pretty normal so far. It'll be nice to check if there's any weight loss.
  13. Sorry to hear @Katgirl. Hope you're up and about soon and get to try your treadmill.
  14. Nope!
  15. It's good to use the built in programs or adjust the settings manually to change it up during a workout. Otherwise the repetitive nature of the motion can cause certain issues. I'd recommend mixing it up with regular outdoor sessions.
  16. @Dianne, Wow 5 days! And 2-3 days is like nothing? This is giving me hope. I'll do a 2-day fast this week. Do you do anything when breaking the fast after a few days. I've read bone broth is good but I don't have the skills to make some.
  17. Congratulations @Mee on 3 years!
  18. The discussion with the doc did NOT go well and ended with 'it's your body so you can do whatever you want with it' which kind of hints at .... The timing wasn't great as the doc had just finished telling me the last bloodwork was better than it had been for years when I sprung the news about the new meal plan which means the meds can't be taken on old schedule. In fact it really means stopping some of the meds so the doc wasn't quite in agreement but I'm seriously tired of meds. I do trust the doc and am torn a bit ... Maybe check in 3 months time how the body is coping and decide at that time.
  19. Nope!
  20. Hope you feel better @Katgirl. It must be terribly hard to have to live with this. Why get pissed off at it, it's no different from any other disorder - we all live with something or the other. You're doing all the right things and that's all you can do, isn't it?
  21. How about a skateboarder? could be quite addictive.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
