  1. Yep. 1. I got fired from Burger King at age 15 after showing up a couple of hours late because I didn't want to leave a party. 2. I did play the trumpet in band. Not particularly well, but I managed. 3. Now it gets a little tricky. This was supposed to be the lie as I was a Brownie but ditched out before I became a Girl Scout -- or so I thought until I looked it up a minute ago and learned that Brownie is a rank of Girl Scouts. Who knew? Obviously I was not terribly involved and was probably just in it for the snacks until I got bored with the whole thing. So in addition to Burger King, I think I'm about to get fired from the Two Truths and a Lie game for general incompetence, but first I will declare Saz the winner because close counts.
  2. 1. I got fired from my job at Burger King 2. I played the trumpet in junior high band 3. I was a Girl Scout
  3. Clearing out our kitchen sink Halts
  4. Never off topic
  5. #3 is the lie. Your jukebox is working just fine.
  6. Congratulations x 6 x XXX!!!! As a fellow sausage lover, I thought the perfect gift for your 6th anniversary would be your very own sausage truck. Cheers and happy eating!
  7. Great job reaching out, NoNic. I can so relate to everything you are saying. I spent the early days having constant arguments with myself, deciding that I would stop on the way home from work a pick up some cigarettes, and then talking myself out of it at the last second every time I passed a gas station or store. I was the worst, but still somehow pulled it off so please know that it can be done, even if it isn't always pretty. You've got this — one hour, one day, at a time. It will get easier and before you know it you will be looking back on these first days and be so happy that they are behind you.
  8. Geez, what a day. So encouraging to see the people working together to get the best AC unit for you; how nice that there are still people who care and will go out their way to help. Glad your mother is coming around on the food issue and I predict she will be the head healthy chef before long. Yep, block out anything that stands in the way of your peace of mind and recovery. BF needs to pick it up and realize that this is not the time for him to lose it and wallow in his own feelings. Good for you for plowing through the nonsense and getting on with the business at hand. I will be thinking of you at 1:30 and sending a virtual hug to take into treatment with you.
  9. Your mind must be going a mile a minute with everything you have going on combined with new meds and quitting smoking, so take a second to pat yourself on the back for how well you are handling this jumble of emotions, appointments, arrangements, and processing of new information, but also give yourself permission to not have to be superwoman every minute of the day. It must have been jarring to get the call setting the schedule for your therapy — making it all too concrete and real — but I'm soooo glad to hear that your treatments are starting tomorrow. It has to start before it can be finished so you are now officially starting on the road to recovery. Hopefully the scary unknown of the treatments will quickly become a boring daily routine. Knowing your way around the insurance business must be a huge help (not to mention actually having decent insurance coverage) and confirmation that they will be holding your job gives you one less big thing to have to worry about right now. Please keep writing, keep your spirits up, and cook some more of those tasty, creative, healthy meals when you're in the mood. Your posts are starting to make me hungry.
  10. I can relate to #1 since I am not a huge fan of heights, but I'll go with #3 and guess that you were a great manager in a tough race but the opponent squeaked through.
  11. That was true in the late 90s, but by now snowboarding has been around for a long time and it's pretty split between the two. Like fashion, these things go in cycles so it's best to just figure out what you like and go with it. But... you are the big winner, reciprocity. I have probably only been skiing about 15 times in my life -- I started very late and while I wasn't hopeless I never went often enough to get good at it. Sure if fun, though.
  12. Ugh, the truths are getting harder to come up with -- at least the ones I'm willing to tell 1. I was a speed skater as a tween. 2. I go downhill skiing at least 15 times a year. 3. I was MVP of the year the first year on my co-ed adult softball team
  13. #3 is the lie because you already told us you were on the Bozo and Santa Claus shows
  14. I'll take #2 because leftovers
  15. Like-minded applicants usually get hired Bossy
  16. Ummm, yes I know. But since you asked so nicely here's a fiver. Joked

  21. Sometimes leftovers are the best. #1 is the lie.
  22. One's never enough
  23. Three weeks is huge, Diane, and you certainly deserve to be very proud of yourself. I'm glad you're still enjoying your coffee; that was a saving grace for me. It sounds as if you are plowing through the worst trigger situations and handling them like a champ. We are very proud of you, too.
  24. Okay.... 1. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree with an archaeology major. 2. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in metalworking design. 3. My college coursework included courses in bowling, pocket billiards, weight training, Japanese tea ceremony, Ikebana, mythology, and Shakespeare.
  25. I'll take Jamaica for 3, Alex. I have fond memories of a couple of weeks spent in Negril and surrounding area many years agoe.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
