  2. That's insane. Isn't all of California under a stay at home order? That means no visiting other people's houses, so why is he there in the first place? If he goes to the dollar store for grins then he probably goes anywhere else that will let him in, too. Definitely not what you need around.

  6. Great job on day 2, Irene, and the days will start to pass a little faster soon. Wait...no alcohol? When our mayor first issued a citywide lock-down to go into effect the following day, he initially didn't include liquor stores as essential businesses. Within 15 minutes of the announcement there were lines around the block waiting to get into area liquors stores, and a couple of hours later liquor stores (and marijuana businesses) were added to the list of essential businesses.

  8. Ugh, how scary for you both, Jo. I hope she's all glued or stitched up and you're both sleeping it off now. True story -- I worked at a bar/pizza place while in college and managed to completely slice off the pad of my thumb with a large machine meant for slicing pepperoni rather than thumbs. I took both parts along to the ER and got lots of stitches, and it was quickly as good as new; although the scar is still visible to this day, which helps to remind me not to do this again. Wishing your daughter (and you) a very speedy recovery and I can imagine how much more difficult and frustrating it is to try to get basic but necessary medical treatment right now.

  12. Jo, it has never even vaguely occurred to me that one person's quit was inferior or superior to another's because of the method used to reach the same goal of stopping smoking and being completely nicotine-free by the end. Some might appear to be smoother or rockier, but not better or worse. So clean up that space between your ears to make room for some uncluttered pride in your beautiful quit (with extra points for your entertaining stories along the way).

  14. Yay, you're on your way again now. Get some sleep and start fresh tomorrow. You can do this, and you will.

Some online shopping sites are a sea of price gouging right now.

  20. Doing 10/12 -push-ups/squats. Increasing slowly as these are new to me and this would be a bad time to pull a muscle or strain my back -- so more worried about proper form than quantity. I want to know where all my aches and pains are coming from these days. Still doing 30 minute walk and every other day hand weights. Great job, everyone. Let's keep moving and exercising at whatever level works best for each of us.

  23. Be as careful as you can out there, Kate. And thanks to you, too, for the work you do helping to keep the stores open.
  24. Congratulations, Kate!!! This time you're in it to stay!
  25. So glad to hear you're okay now, Paul. You're really on the front lines working in a health care facility and hopefully you will have immunity to this virus now.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
