  8. So proud of you for working through the tough cravings and recognising when you needed help through them. Being too strong and holding back can be dangerous. Your almost done with day 3 which means your over the hump, the nicotine should be out of system and the week is more than half over! You've got this!! A reward sounds like a great idea, three days is a great milestone and probably one of the toughest. YOU did it!! Proud of you :)
  9. If you have not watched the Goldbergs you should, its awesome, lol! Anyone else?
  10. We watched all the stargates when Syfy was syfy Fridays. You could watch sg, stargate atlantis and battlestar gallacta all in one night. We dvr'd and watched Sundays. I miss them all :(
  11. How do you prepare your venison steaks? We have a freezer full. I made chicken fried steak the other day with mashed potatos, gravy and corn. I wouldn't mind a more healthy alternative to cooking the steaks and loosing the gamey taste. I ordered chinese food tonight. Its my cheat night. Back at the healthy stuff in the a.m. Tomorrows dinner is home made spaghetti and meatballs. Made pasta today, my pasta rack broke so I needed a quick fix to hang it, lol! Worked, I might not even buy a new drying rack.
  12. Thank you for sharing, amazing how much nicotine controls our thought process. My father in law had a 90% blockage and a stint placed...still smokes. I wish he would quit, he is not invincible and smoking will kill him but he doesn't see it. He is only 60. Marcus I'm glad you quit and didn't take your second chance for granted. Thank you for paying it forward and helping others.
  13. You are doing a wonderful job!! Having a support system in place is most definitely a great tool to our success! Keep it up!
  14. I'm more emotional. I get teary eyed over everything now. Drives me nuts. I've never been a crier. Wish I had advice but just know your not alone in the emotion department.
  15. My simplest answer is that I truly hated smoking. Everything about it sucked and I couldn't see anything positive to doing it. For a long time all I could think about is how much I hated smoking but I kept doing it. Eventually I got sick with a respiratory thing and that sealed the deal. I woke up one morning 4.5 months ago and just didn't smoke. The rest is history.
  16. Ha! I'm curvy :) I love curves too but if I don't get eating/exercising under control curves will revert to lumps and I just can't have that.
  17. Lol Bandito, yes you read that right :) But, those are my serving sizes. Adjust accordingly to your diet goals, calorie requitements and body type.
  18. That's great soozie, your doing awesome in your quit!! I too was a lighter thief, lol! I still have lighters stashed all over the house that I'm finding.
  19. Only your medical doc can diagnose and provide proper treatment ideas so that's an awesome place to start. Also a nutritionist or dietician is highly recomended. My opinion, your body is adjusting to the lack of stimulants from quitting smoking, an unhealthy diet and little exercise. Try to incorporate a more clean diet into your daily routine and try walking outside for some exercise. You could also get some probiotic supplements (ones kept in fridge with at least 20 billion ). Here is a quick breakdown of my morning. 1. Breakfast was a scrambled egg on a bed of raw spinach, fresh cut watermelon, coffee. Super easy, super cheap, healthy, and filling. Water 3 mile walk on treadmill. I feel great and it took a little over an hour of my day so far and it's not even 10 am. My point? You don't have to go all out and make huge changes to your day, just start with your morning routine and see if those changes help you begin to feel better. Once you find what works start incorporating that into your other daily choices. For some people dairy and cheeses cause a lot of digestive issues so I'd definitely portion control those. A normal serving of cheese is like 2 oz which is like 2 sugar cube sizes, so not much at all. Any more than that and your in for some trouble :) Good luck and hope the belly starts to feel better.
  20. Hi Scott and welcome! I am doing the same, just getting settled and used to everything! Really glad to be here and to see everyone.
  21. Hey LB, Im so sorry to hear about your friend :( I am glad to see you here though!!
  22. Hi Nancy!! :)
  23. Welcome :D
  24. I was invited to jog/walk yesterday with a gal at one of our battlefield parks...can we say holy hills batman!! My butt was handed to me by a gal in her 50's. We went over four miles and today I did nothing but drive little man to and from school and general house stuff. My shins...my feet... Going again tomorrow, might need prayers..lol.
  25. Love this and can be applied to so much in our lives. Thanks Babs!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
