I swear all my extra money is going into healthy foods. I've traded one vice for another. At least the other is healthy and not killing me :)

Apparently I'm suffering from memory and math issues, 6th mile I saw that thing. Ever have those days where your mind is everywhere yet no where all at once? That was me yesterday. -

I too argued with myself. It got tiring, so very tiring. That was the point I started telling the addiction to "shut up" and "go away". Out loud. Yes I felt weird about it but it helped. It was me making the decision to shut down the addiction and not allowing it to have a choice in my life anymore. Take back control, tell it "NO" and "Go Away"! Each time you say those things the easier and easier it gets. Your taking back control, taking back your life. And like the others have said, everyone has stress. You will have stress whether you smoke or not. Don't let nicotine make the decision that smoking will relieve the stress because it unequivocally will not.

My shoulder is still out, though it is feeling better. Regardless its not well enough so Ive been sticking to walking/jogging. SO far this week I have logged in 12 miles, 4 each day. I might push it tomorrow, my endurance is feeling pretty good. Edit to add....check out what I saw yesterday on my 10th mile mark...this got me going! Was as long as I was tall, if not longer, lol! It was just strolling along the path, I stopped to let it pass, took a pic and high tailed it out of there! -
A lot of us have the ups and downs, me included. Try listening to some music, even if you don't feel like it you might surprise yourself how fast it can change your mood :) Congrats on beating your trigger!! Proud of you!

Hope all is well!!

I used to say/think this in regards to smoking and my father in law still does, drives me crazy now. Makes sense I guess cause cancer, heart attacks, strokes, etc etc are fun.....especially for your loved ones (insert sarcasm). “Life’s journey is not to arrive at the grave safely, in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting ‘Holy shit, what a ride!’” -Mavis Leyrer

HOLY SMOKES! I almost relapsed in RENO :(

Wow, great job getting through those triggers!! You did an awesome job!! I am honestly surprised though, when we visisted Reno for some Army stuff we stayed in the Casino/Hotels and the only smoking was on the Casino floors but the hotel and restaraunts were very nice and fresh. Their ventilation systems are amazing. Sorry you had such a rough time, especially on your anniversarry. :( -
Thoroughly enjoyed this thread, thanks for sharing! You have travelled to so many places, thats pretty amazing.

For me it's all about what I'm eating and portions. I eat MUCH smaller and more frequently or.my metabolism shuts down. During the week I've cut.out sugars and I don't snack (unless.i need a after exercise energy boost) especially at night. I eat good natural foods, stay away from processed stuff and if I'm unsure of portion size I actually measure it. I make sure to work out at.least 5.days a week. I also have one cheat day on the weekend and eat what I want. I don't over eat or.go.crazy but if I want biscuits and gravy for breakfast, I make it. I'm not out to be miserable and I love me some good comfort.food. This is what works for my body though, it might be different for you. You just need to.find what works for you. Be prepared.for.it.to take a little time before you fall into a good routine that produces results.

Daily exercise log for everyone :)

It's been a while since I checked in so...I have officially lost 16 lbs!!!!! I think my metabolism finally found its motor cause these past two weeks I've pulled great numbers and I can visibly SEE a difference in my body. I was feeling a little depressed over the weight to be honest and I'm starting to feel happy again. With that said I do a combo of running, kickboxing and resistance training for anyone new. I have a shoulder injury from the strength training so this week I've been walking/jogging only. Today I did 3.87 miles in 60 minutes. Can't wait for the shoulder to start feeling better cause even walking can jiggle the hurt if I'm not careful.. :( -
Your doing amazing!!! Keep it up!!

Marti I've been pretty emotional through my quit and days like today, I still struggle. The good thing is that I'm recognizing it now and using coping mechanisms and things have gotten much much better. Exercise is helping tremendously but didn't work at first. It took a few weeks to a few months to start paying off. Music is my go to quick fix for those happy endorphins. I turn on music in the shower after a work out, while I'm doing my house stuff, in the car...all the time. You will get through this and find your new normal. The great thing is that it will be so much better than your smoker normal. Make sure to get in some you time as well if you can, it can get overwhelming trying to hold it together all the time in front of the kids and family. I have found letting loose is an amazing feeling and has been one of the biggest helps of all.

I've been thinking of him too as of late. Hope to see you soon!!!!

I too hate when people leave :(

I get them too every now again and it's so strange now. Those thoughts can be so sneaky at times. They just make us stronger though each time we do not succumb. -
MQ I'm gonna look into the preservatives link. I do tons of home coming from scratch but every once in a while I don't. Thanks for the idea. I do stay away from nitrates in lunch meats and hot dogs almost exclusively, the cancer link bugs me. I'm not on my computer but if you Google migraine aura and click images mine are a lot.like what you see there. It's a round or semi circle flashy thing that progresses in size before fading out in the peripheral. Lasts about 30 minutes on average. Still have not looked up the mushrooms but it sounds interesting. I'm hoping too my hormones are leveling out too. All the exercising I'm doing can't hurt and I've almost dropped my 20 lbs quit smoking weight.

I see your at 3 days quit! Your doing awesome, keep it up :)
