  4. This! I see SamDy that you posted your SOS and then smoked. So what DIDN'T work? Did you not stay on the board and read the replies? I am proof that the SOS board works. I saved my quit several times by asking for help and members came running to help me through them. You REALLY have to want and be ready to quit or you're not going to succeed. I'm sorry but that's the truth.

  19. Whenever you're concerned you should go to your dr. I can tell you that the cilia n your lungs is starting to regrow and begin it's job of trying to clean out all the junk in your lungs so shortness of breath is sometimes a symptom of that as is chest tightness BUT we aren't Drs so for your own peace of mind it doesn't hurt to give your dr a call and maybe get checked out. Congrats on 15 days quit, you're doing awesome
  20. Welcome aboard our train full of quitters Hal
  21. @DeadlyChicken, I agree with saz. Three months is awesome to be quit but your body needs much more time to right the wrongs we did to it by smoking. But yourself a waterpik and use a mixture of mouthwash and warm water to give your gums some much needed TLC. Or better yet go to the dentist and tell him your concerns. As far as weight gain goes, don't worry about that right now. Gaining weight for most people is normal when quitting and the next goal AFTER you're secure in your quit. Trust us when we say this too shall pass, onwards and upwards and my favorite...
  22. I'm home and what a journey, I spent January 18-24 !n ICU with respiratory failure from a viral infection I caught from my husband. Ct scan came back terrible with severe emphysema and two nodules on my right lung. Diagnosis at that time was 50\50 that I would recover or go home with hospice. What's crazy is I had no idea I was so sick. I just thought my asthma wasn't well controlled! I had just seen my pulmonologist January 11 telling him yet again that I was getting so winded doing easy things like showering or dressing. He added Spiriva and said see you in four months so I figured it must be in my head since my primary kept telling me that the weight loss I have had the last two years was from anorexia and to drink a shake everyday. He also said my ridiculously high blood pressure was fine. So I again went about my days talking myself down from the panic when the shortness of breath brought me to my knees, literally. Unfortunately on Saturday the 18th I just couldn't and hubby called the ambulance. I don't have any recollection after the paramedics picked me up and carried me to the ambulance. My hubby said they had to strap my arms down because I kept pulling off the cpap mask. I totally missed Sunday and didn't come around until Monday heavily sedated to keep me calm. I'm lucky though because at the time I had my ct scan the pulmonologist said even if it was cancer they wouldn't do anything about it because of my condition and now that I'm doing so much better he's willing to take me as a patient and do my follow up scan in two months. So I'm home on oxygen, lots of new drugs and hopefully a better team of Drs to help me take good care of myself. I'll miss my old Drs because I liked them but I can't survive something like that again. The one take away I would say is be your own advocate, I should have listened to my gut as I watched my health deteriorate. Instead I chose false hopes and it Damn near killed me.......
  23. Waiting for my discharge orders and husband so I can go home!!!
  24. Love this post QueenB and so happy that you'll soon celebrate your first year smoke free

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
