  1. Welcome aboard @robin0212, sorry to hear you relapsed. Just goes to show how insidious this addiction is to suck us back in at our most vulnerable moments. The important thing is you're back to quitting. And our gang of quitters are just the support you need to see you through these tough times. In answer to your questions, lots of us feel like we're giving up our best friend and go through the grieving process, I did. I was mad that others got to smoke and I had to quit because my breathing was so bad. But it was my support that made me realize that they didn't GET to smoke, they HAD to smoke. BIG difference! We've also got a lot of members who read Alan Carr and swear by it. I was already quit for three weeks when I found my first forum so I didn't read it but I'm told its worth the read. We've also got a ton of information about our addiction as well as a video forum if that's more your thing so give yourself a good look around and again welcome aboard

  3. @LeapOfFaith we have a whole forum of information on vapes so check it out, it should have all the information you're wanting ☺ https://www.quittrain.com/forum/18-vaping-juuling-unquestionable-addiction-reckless-aftermath/
  4. You're wayyyyyy over thinking it that's what you're doing wrong. Once you make up your mind and just quit then you'll go through some sucky days for a bit and then you're done. It's REALLY not as hard as we have it in our mind to be. As far as ecigs or vapes, when they first came out they were thought to be safer than smoking but now that the studies are coming in they are finding just how bad for your lungs and overall health they are.

  6. Thanks @johnny5 for starting this thread for me. And thank you all for the kind words and congratulations. It made my day These years go by so quickly and it gives me purpose to be able to assure someone just starting their quit that they can do it. As they say, it takes a village and in our case it takes a train full to raise a quitter. There is no better group to help a person quit smoking than a group of people who have done it and know what you are going through because chances are they went through it too. Thanks again you guys, you're the best!

  14. @overcome, after looking on the support forum for invision it appears that giphy got sold and they banned the old keys that worked the gifs so that's why it's no longer working. Glad to know it's not just our forum I never even noticed it was on the text toolbar until a few months ago lol. I have just always used the Other Media option.

  16. Hmmm, you're right. It could be their site. I usually just Google the image I'm looking for and then use the insert image from URL option in other media at the bottom right
  17. Congratulations @Wayne045 on 7 years quit, isn't it awesome?! I hope you have a great day and celebrate!
  18. Ladybug Posted April 9, 2014 I have no idea where I got this from, but it's in my quit diary and I thought I share it with you guys! As to silencing the inner voice: The secret is a repeated conscious choice. If you draw a saw across a log one time, you may make a scratch in the bar. If you draw it across the log a few more times you may scratch the surface of the wood. If you keep drawing the saw across the same place on the log, the scratch will get deeper, until it becomes a cut, then a groove.... If you keep on drawing the saw across the log, beyond counting the number of times, eventually you'll draw it clear through to the other side. Every morning you get up and consciously choose not to smoke today, you're drawing the saw across the log....keep doing that...and you'll reach the other side. Keep sawing!!! About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
