  9. Welcome @Birch...oh you are so in the right place. 1 smoke a week...a pack a day we come in all shapes and sizes but the one thing we all have in common is we are nicotine addicts and we want to be free of this addiction. Dunno about up north (I live down under) but down here post extractions we are supposed to be smoke free for at least 2 weeks to avoid dry socket (omg the pain, the pain ,...yep I didn't wait)...so keep that as extra motivation. As for the happy weed...there are those here who do and those who don't ...some just eat it...some are really against it...most are indifferent but I say cross one bridge at a time. Biggest tips I have for newbies...join the daily NOPE thread...Not One Puff Ever...even if like me in the beginning it was a NOPE for today which brings me to my second biggest tip....just take it one day at a time, only worry about today...tomorrow will get here eventually but just focus on today. Other tips...keep your fluids up. And your blood sugar levels...2 birds, 1 stone...drink lots of juice I don't wish the newbies good luck because a successful quit has nothing to do with luck, just respecting yourself enough not to put something in your mouth and setting it in fire.
  10. You bloody ripper. Well done Jill...excellent choice @MarylandQuitter.. Although I a little bit concerned about you giving others the jack...there are creams and pills for that these days you know

  18. Well I did have a lovely birthday if some what odd....it went like this...woke up to well wishes on here, had no work because it was a public holiday....had brunch with the kid bought myself some DVDs, at 6pm get a call from me little brother who has just driven 6.5 hours because his daughter has a dance comp this weekend and they left her costume at home....so fly around to the fabric shop before it closes at 7pm, grab stuff, fly to me parental's and make her a costume...at midnight me brother comes out (cos they are all in bed) and says "happy birthday" and I say thanks it was yesterday.

    Scary Story/Stories

Post what you want as often as you want....now cos you're knew and I've been awol you may not know that I had a big quit that I threw away years ago.....and then I have this quit, heading into 2 years ... This is what I know.... 1. Big quit, I craved all day every day and spent over 6 years trying to find "an acceptable" reason to smoke....I never got passed the craving...but that's because I never stopped romancing the ciggies and giving them power. 2. I got educated about how nicotine addiction works.... But most importantly I stopped looking for justifications to smoke...and the cravings went away...not over night or in a few weeks but I don't get those cravings anymore, sure sometimes I'll get these whispered ghosts of a memory flicker through that hey wouldn't a smoke now be nice and immediately I laugh because nope I don't want one. I've got decades of programming to re-write but glitch by glitch it's getting there. Sure some day 30 years down the track a whisper might race across my mind and my gut response is Gunna be "yeah-NAH, I'm the one in control not some remnant nicotine receptor".
  20. This is my happy place, I love it's freedom, the real friendships I have made and the lessons I have learnt. I'm just glad you mob didn't kick my fat arse off at the first stop
  21. Sitting on a smoke free balcony (it's illegal in my state to have smoking in outdoor eating areas) listening to all the birds whole I wait for lunch ..... You'd never think I was only 38km (23.6miles) fro. The heart of the 2nd biggest city in Australia.
  22. Oh look at you being all cultured and class @reciprocity..... Nek Minit you be wearin' roll neck jumpers under your blazer.
  23. They always had the wierdest lyrics....they were never that big down here, I think the only two songs to get any air play were the wake up my airplane song and U know we spent a summer singing "got a green light yeah" to the Best Things. Yep another 90s teen.
  24. Getting ready to watch the granny (AFL grandfinal) today but for the very first time in my life I really don't want either team to win, I want them both to loose, I have no nice feelings about either.).
  25. @Sazerac why haven't you given my a shout out about this chick....I was thinking a defo Billie vibe but then I heard her sing in French!!!!! And fell down a you tube back hole check-in out her catalogue.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
