  3. Seriously?? ... you don't nick into the shops on ya way home from the beach in your togs and a towel and barefoot? Isn't it always ok to nick to the shops with no shoes? Or ya just nickin' in the servo to pay and maybe grab a slurpee... bare foots fine, right??? Is this just an Aussie thing? Has to be OK... even Chris Hemsworth does his shopping barefoot.... Oh and if their clean no issue touching someone else's feet. I give my dad and the kid foot massages all the time, my dad because it helps his pains and my kid cos she got addicted to them as a baby because it was one of the only ways to get her to sleep... now she wants them when she is sick or emotional and I'm just a sucker. (hmmm not to @Boo ... don't create a habit in your kid you don't want to still indulge when they are a teen) TNP thinks Aussies are weirdos.

  9. So what's my limit? You know I've bin holdin back..was gunna wait til 1 Dec but someone opened the lid... Hook turns only exist down here in Melbourne....it's where in the middle of the city you have to turn right from the left hand lane after the light turns red.

  15. Turning a negative into a positive...love this post.
  16. There is tough love and there is kicking a dog when it's down (not saying your a dog @Vivianne, promise)...one is harsh but constructive and one is just sadistic and cruel...I think sometimes the message gets lost when the delivery is unnecessarily nasty and hurtful.. from the outside looking in sometimes the hardline advice comes across as being more about the person delivery getting a sactemonious ego boost than offering anything to help or support another. @Vivianne...you know you frucked up your quit...you had the balls to share this fact and you got straight back into a new quit. Publicly making yourself accountable shows you are serious about doing this.
  17. Happy birthday Tina
  18. Woohoo...I'm on the board.
  19. Omfg...I know this trucker.... It's the fruckin chorus
  20. Hmmmm.... So the obvious is River Man by Nick Drake... But then there is Ol' Man River....and then if ya wanna throw the net far an wide do it hits down under you get He'll Never Be An Ol' Man, River...by TISM... Reality it's nun a them...so goin with this cos it's my hometown boys.. Cos..it's a river, an there's a poster for Man from Aran on the tree and they're old.
  21. Oh my fruckin god, let me bow at your feet and may I learn...going on the wall at work..."anger doesn't get me anywhere."...Goodluck with the little one at the GP.
  22. Ok..bit more detail now I'm out of the war zone (waiting room at hospital cas department)... I knew I could not quit without some help. So I used NRT gum. But the day u started gum, I stopped smoking. I gave myself 3 months of NRT and that was it. I knew my addiction had 3 faces, emotional/social, psychological and physical. I knew breaking the habbit/routine would be harder for me than kicking the drug. What I know now, is that the two were linked, but facing all the social and emotional things I did with the crutch of an NRT gum was instrumental in getting me through. Do I regret not going cold turkey...yes in some ways I do BUT I do honestly believe I wouldn't still be here now without the NRT. So once I decided to commit to my quit I had an exit strategy in place for the NRT...from the third day I pushed the envelope...first gum of the day, space between gums, spacing normal chewies in between NRT ones...then having 2 for each one NRT... Identify why you can't quit without an NRT and then you will know if it's suitable.
  23. I used NRT...but never while smoking...I would push the time between gums out daily but never intermingled it with smokes.
  24. Well got to go home but had to deal with clingy 13yo and pretty smashed by fatigue...but here it us, early hours of Monday morning and I'm back in cas..just at the big hossy not the local one...cos the BP hit 207/119....I just want the headache to stop.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
