  1. Did ya know Chris that the first registered ice hockey team in Australia was in Darwin...and they were undefeated world champions for 32 years...until they opened a bloody rink in Darwin... Never lost a game, never played on either just won by default when the other teams didn't show up because there was no ice rink in the Territory... A Swiss team showed up once, the game was declared a draw.
  2. The last time it snowed in Werribee was the day before never ever...nope apparently it snowed in Werribee once in the 70s but it was gone in hours. Last time snow fell on Melbourne was 1951...had to google that...Brunswick (suburb) got snow 86.
  3. I remember my first cyclone watch in Darwin....first thing to sell out...beer! I would be super excited to get snow.
  4. Ñnnnnnnoooooooooooo!!!!!! Oh what's wrong with Harry...go on start....
  5. Xmas ... Pronounced either ex-mass or Christmas. Christmas for the non-Christians....or more to the point why write 9 letters when ya can get by with 4.
  6. ^^why??? 1970s Johnny Farnham.... I promise @Sazerac he is like the Aussie Rod Stewart...just much less skeezy. There's a completely different version Farnsie did with Olivia Newton-John I found a Harry Connick Jr version even.
  7. Sleep in peace Marie Fredriksson...painfree and at rest.
  8. Yet again I am excluding Bing from the list, cos well Bing and Bowie's version is the one I tolerate the best but it deviates too far from the original. Let me preface this by saying I fricking hate this song (well cepting the Bing n Bowie version). I hated it when I was a kid and I hate it now....but I figured I may as well do one of these xmad polls with a Johnny Cash song for Boo and his version of this is kinda ok. So here they are, your versions to vote on: 1. The Von Trapp Family Singers...the real ones from Austria, not those Julie Andrews Disney crew. 2. Johnny Cash 3. Christine Anu...cos I gotta have me an Aussie ....ah but some of that's not English I hear you say...still Aussie mates, that's Kalaw Lagaw Ya the language from Torres Straight Islands... 4. A klezmer Carol of the drum...surprisingly entertaining if somewhat schizophrenic..worth a listen for the Hawaii 5-0 key change. 5. Etta James....cos Etta James 6. Alex Boye ft Genesis Choir...the clips a bit odd but you can skip to the 1:05 mark....African drums...African line dancing..this goes all out...on a budget. Each has a different sound so have a listen, cast ya vote, post your opinion or your favourite version.
  9. Jacinda is one of the classiest world leaders I have seen in my time...there are a shit tonne of tools out there claiming to be statesmen who should take lessons.
  10. Yep....I could eat a box of red head's a day .. they tasted the best. And I'd get the real cheap black wiper blades, cut them into bits about an inch long and chew on them till they were itty bitty bits of rubber and wash them down with ginger beer. Funny thing though, when I was preggas I couldn't eat Vegemite. For a week or so I lived off vanilla icecream smothered in tomato sauce (ketchup). I also had to get someone else to put the petrol in my car cos I kinda liked the smell at the servo and figured it wasn't healthy for the baby for me to be deep breathing petrol fumes.
  11. So what did you or the missus crave when you were up the duff? What is the wierdest thing someone you know has craved? What do/did you crave each month with ya period? So with the kid, when I wasn't being Linda Blair, I had some not so normal cravings....and some normalise ones. Frosty Fruit Icypoles Mangos Kiwi Fruit with the skin on (would just eat them like apples) Persimmons Watermelon rind (not the nice pink fruit, just the green and white bit on the outside) Burnt match heads Windscreen wiper blades. Now monthly....I crave savoury... Shapes, or dip, or cheese n bickies...or Sakata seaweed rice bickies...or cheesels ....or chicken twisties....sometimes even burger rings.
  12. Stay safe @forestgreen.
  13. Well as it seems to be Australia Day in the Christmas songbook .... Let's just keep the hits coming...
  14. Just wanted to send out prayers to all affected by the Volcano eruption in New Zealand...to those suffering in hospitals all over NZ from their burns may your recoveries be Swift and your suffering eased...to those around the world waiting for news of their loved ones my news by at hand soon, and to the amazing kiwis who rallied to the aid of those affected as always you are an inspiration to us all on what it means to be a mate, finally the first responder heros, who flew their choppers in against advice and got everyone off that they could..thank you for being the selfless heros you are and make sure you take care of you. On a personal note, it's been a long night waiting for news with relos over there on holidays...took a while to hear from everyone but we are lucky and have everyone unharmed and accounted for.
  15. Sydney's bushfire smoke haze today...and expecting 42°C... Stay safe...
  16. Hugh Jackman...carols by candlelight circa before he blew up Hollywood.
  17. Having a cuppa and breathing a sigh of relief. Finally got contact with relos holidaying in NZ and on the cruise ship. All safe, saddly many others won't be as relieved as I am.
  18. You're not alone Lilly lots of us had some degree of being fed up with the whole process...it takes a brave soul to post it.. I know I only wanted to post the positives because I didn't want to put those coming behind off which is stupid thinking. So much better and healthier to put it out there. Just remember you're not quiting.. you have quit, you quit 9 months ago, you are just protecting that quit. ...and doing a bloody good job of it too.
  19. -1
  20. My dad taught me well...I did it on auto pilot. Dad made us all do a defensive driving course once we got our PS. Because I am stupid!!!...not supposed to drive for medical reasons but when the kids dad wouldn't pick her up and Noone else was volunteering I went.. 4hours each way on public transport (Sunday time table..requiring 3 buses and a train) or 70-80mins drive on mainly back roads and industrial areas.
  21. Sitting with ice on me shoulder waiting on me dad to come strap me wrist...cos the wheel fell off the car goin' 80 on the roundabout. So handbreak stop in a 3tonne ute with 3 wheels and driving on the hub....biggest frickin insult got sunburnt waitin for the frickin towie. Am I supposed to be driving...No! So I say to the kids dad, time to pick her up from the sleep over (4 suburbs away 40 min drive) .. no he can't be stuffed, chucks a frickin man tantrum wobbly so even though my BP is spaz and I'm not deposed to be driving I go to get the kid. Half way home, doing 80km/hr (50m/hr) in his twin cab ute there is a loud explosion, the steering is shot and I'm figgering the tires blown...then there is the grinding squeal of metal on asphalt an I'm thinking fruck now I gotta change the tire and the rims shot and I'm trying to change lanes and pull over using the hand break and steer the fruckin tank one handed and calm the kid and what comes bouncing past me passenger window but the fruckin rear tire. ... How! How the fruck do 6 bolts snap and a whole wheel come off?
  22. Did you know...we don't call freestyle Australia Crawl....it's just freestyle. Most Aussies are pretty good at bending the elbow.
  23. ^^^ what the fruck @Boo get out of my bloody head. So the kids Chrissy is almost donski...just stocking stuffers etc to do. Everyone else, I have Nada. First official function next sundee...making 2 salads and peeling, deveining and cooking some prawns. Still gotta finish the little ones pressies.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
