  1. BOWLIN' WARNIE.
  2. Yep for the cricket savvy the is Boonie in drag at the pub... oh this is here for the beer ad after a bit of cricket... during this match, everytime a player hit a 6 (over the fence on the full) a celebrity would be dunked in the water tank.
  3. Mourning Warnie..
  4. Another RIP post... Shane Warne, King if the cashed up bogans, cricketing legend passed suddenly last night. 52 people. So for those not from a cricketing nation, Warne is the greatest leg spin bowler (like a pitcher) of all time, anywhere in the world. He bowled the ball of the century. He was a total bogan and a larrikin...wore #23 for my beloved Saints (Aussie footy) before switching to cricket. He was a bit dodgy off the field, there was a gambling problem, a drug issue when his mum gave him some diet pills and sex scandles. Not only did Australia's greatest song writer pen a tune about him...so to did Kevin bloody Wilson but he even had a musical written about him. He had a failed attempt as a NRT spokesperson , but he was our Warnie and his loss will be mourned by all Aussies and cricket fans around the world.
  5. Oright you mob, time for a public service announcement from the great land down under..... You've quit before and failed? You are not alone, many others have too, it does not mean you can't quit. STEP 1...ask yourself "wot did I learn" and "why did I fail". STEP 2... don't beat yourself up, don't dwell on the negative, put your focus on now and this quit and move on. STEP 3... Quit again. STEP 4... Never give up, because you are worth it.
  6. Oi, be kinder to yourself there mate. Statistics show it takes most people more than one crack to get their successful quit. So lets just look at your previous quits and take the positives.... Wot did ya learn?...then apply that...DON'T waste time or energy beating yourself up over failing, you lost your quit, it happened, can't turn back time and change it so just look forward, only worry about this quit, your sticky one, and let it grow. Instead of "I could have been 4 months" rest your energy and focus to "I'm 1 day, hour, week, etc, etc, ad nauseum." Biggest tip I got when I first quit was just quit for 1 day, then repeat it. 6 months in my target was still to just quit for 1 day, I mean by then I knew I could do 1 day without a smoke cos I'd done a whole heap already. When I'd get a niggle, NOPE not smoking today. Dwelling on the past makes it more likely to repeat it...for the next few quit months live in the now, hour to hour, day to day goals.
  7. And it's a NOPE from me
  8. @Cbdave glad to see your message. Hope you have power and not too much damage. Stay safe and Viva la Mud Army and all those who saw a way they could help and did. Lismore was terrifying, so quick too. You are right, no point blaming the government, just gotta roll up our sleeves and get it done.
  9. Nope .... waiting on today's, hoping Cbdave has dry feet and power where he is.
  10. I used gum to get me through the first few months...after the first few weeks every second gum I'd just have a normal one instead...
  11. Watching a tribute to John Landy, former State Governor, 2nd Person to break the 4 minute mile, world record holder, Olympic Gold Medalists and the star of the greatest Aussie sport moment ever. Passed yesterday at 91. VALE. This bloke was one of geros growing up. We were always told about him regardless, of the sport I competed in, when we're were being taught sportsmanship. @Cbdave keepin all you mob north of the boarder, and the cockroaches, in my thoughts and hoping the rain eases soon.
  12. Meanwhile, from the future, it's Satdee 26 Feb, so in honour of @Boo's furbasy's namesakes birthday ..... yeah, yeah I know I said only Aussies this year, but it's a song about an Aussie...so there.
  13. Lost an Aussie Music Legend today... probably better known for his manager skills than his prowess on the bass (although he was voted Aussie bass player of the year in 71) .... RIP Glenn Weatley... And no tribute would be complete without thanking him for mortgaging his house so his mate and client John Farnham could record the album that gave us the greatest Aussie song ever ...
  14. Meanwhile, Down under ..... Happy Straya Day! Just to clarify, in the words of my Yorta Yorta mate Jase who's barbie I'm off to today.... we aren't frickin celebrating an invasion or the arrival of the brits but celebrating our bitsa society where we've mixed the best of everything for the awesomeness that we all are together. So about 15 of us are off to see a mate from Malaysia and his family take their citizenship and then we'll be off to the bbq for an international feast, some back yard cricket and possibly avround of goon of fortune. @Cbdave not sure if you've heard this 1 but today's the day for it...
  15. Oh....blackberries in summer, climbing through the bracken ferns to get to the ferral blackberry bushes while staying at my Great Aunties house...she would make blackberry jam and then a batch of scones to eat it with, lecturing us the whole time not to go near the blackberry bushes cos that's where the snakes are.... Isn't it fun, when you think about these things you can feel the burn of the Sun through your tshirt and you can smell the eucalyptus on the air....it's like a time travel or is that just me.
  16. I'm here.
  17. Today my happy food memory is Lime Spiders..... a glass of lime softdrink with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.... makes me think of summer holidays on my uncles farm crowding into the kitchen to get a treat.... remembering putting on advocates concerts with the cousins, being torchered with bugs and spiders and lizards and snakes by the same cousins so getting an extra scoop to make up for having to put up with the boys all day.
  18. So was off in the music thread sharing some Aussie music when the name of a band triggered a whole series of happy food memories...although in this case it's a drink. 5hen I got thinking about how some foods just make you feel happy when you eat them or think about them. So what's yours and why...
  19. @Steven Drojensky my first memory of the Saints is being crammed into the boot of my uncles panel van with 4 other kids they were supposed to be babysitting driving to the beach and my uncle saying "now kids, this is music, listen, learn" ....sound track of my childhood. Also in those early days of panel van trips to the beach my soundtrack included Radio Birdman... And The Limespiders .... Now I want a lime spider....mmmm yummo
  20. Right...had to hunt down this t model ford bloke cos his video were blocked...yep worth the research, pointed in the right direction by @Boo yet again. Now for some more Aussie flavour..
  21. 7. Poke holes in the top, fill with grass and use it to store the frogs, lizards or snails you spend the day catching. Hot Tip from experience: snails can eat their way out, just saying.
  22. 3. Use it to store your sticky tape and ribbons for wrapping.
  23. 8. Write a 'honey do' task for the kid and leave stuck to the telly screen so she doesn't miss it.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
