  2. How can you not live a Vanda-Young...probably my favourite.
  3. I'll be interupting my NAIDOC Week daily contribution from Aussie first nation artists to give some Aussie flavour to the 4th of July festivites.....
  4. G'day mate and welcome aboard. In the first few weeks I had an app on my phone to help chart my quit. So the two best things I got from the app were the random sms messages I'd get that would say...1 hour smoke free and then a little medical fact about what that had done for my body. The other thing I loved as a little memory game to help get through craves...it was just a turn over the cards and find the match, it was timed forc3 minutes...just enough time to beat the craves. I used nrt chewies (gum) and that worked for me. So onto the pointy bit of this post... I am another who had a long quit and lost it...sure there were circumstances that contributed to me smoking again but in retrospect I chose to put something in my mouth, light it and smoke it. What I learnt is that for me I am only 1 puff away from a pack a day. I don't constantly crave a smoke anymore but the knowledge that for me, even though I will never smoke again, I'm like an alcoholic and I will always be a smoker, I just choose not to smoke. Kinda like a dormant volcano, I'm a dormant smoker. I don't want one anymore, plenty of stresses have pushed my buttons and I've not even been tempted but I'm always ready incase they do. I have a plan for if that urge comes and of got a train load of mates to talk ne off a ledge. Best advice anyone gave me during my quit.... you only need to quit fir one day ...... those days just add up to forever. You wake up and say to yourself, I will not smoke today and then repeat it. Once you've done it once, you know you can...I mean come on, it's inly 1 day.
  5. 2
  6. Two
  7. NAIDOC Week starts today....so what better song for a Sunday than this .. This Archie Roach and Emma Donovan duet is a Sunday staple at our crazy house.
  8. 3
  9. 7. Add to a dark load to stop the white fluff stuff getting on things.
  10. ^ my great grandad and others in my mob were there...such a waste, but we have 5he life we do for their sacrifice.
  11. Here's one for the kids...
  12. So in keeping with my goal of only posting Aussie Songs or Artists this year....this one goes out to all our Very North Americans .... Happy Canada Day.... (NOT work or kiddie friendly)
  13. 6. Use to help break in a new softball glove
  14. 10. Put a know of it in the middle of your bowl of porridge. Hmm..... WD40
  15. Yep...I copped some cuts (the strap) in my day....Mrs Hussain in grade 3 was strap happy, she would use a ruler but wack you using the edge of it. She'd just keep going until you cracked....she left halfway through the year and never came back, coincidently after she gave Luke C the cuts until his hand bled and he put his teeth through he lip trying not to cracked a sound or tear.
  16. Yep we had the strap....was phased out while I was in primary school (elementry/middle school ... we just have 3 types of school here... primary (prep to grade 6), secondary (yr 7 to 12... usually called highschool or college) or in some areas we have P-12 which is all the grades in 1 school.
  17. Dot-matrix printers.... as annoying as it was at the time I kinda miss having to tear those holey strip's from the edges of the printer paper....I mean it was someone how a little bit satisfying.
  18. Mix tapes.....listening to the radio waiting for 'that' song to come on and trying to start recording just in time....and getting that fricking overlap that was vitually impossible to ignore....I mean to this day my brain things the words "Moomoo town, moomootown, all bound for moo moo town" should immediately follow the last line of Bohemian Rhapsody....lol.
  19. Typing class....the only subject I ever failed....Along comes the internet...touch typing wonder suddenly surfaces. Well I spose technically I failed woodwork, but 2 classes and 11 stitches later can you really blame Mr Hills....he passed me on the condition i never entered his workshop again..he would say I showed up...I'd leave project designs in his pigeon hole and the completed work would appear on my homeroom desk....he even had my music lessons rescheduled to be when woodwork class was...lol.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
