  1. Great news Dogbelly, stay focussed.
  2. NOPE...
  3. Yes keep fighting for your freedom, the storm will get calmer and calmer, then the sun will shine.
  4. It always seems harder to quit when you know you have to, rather than just quitting on a whim! I knew it was time for me to quit, when I started having chest pains, struggling to breath whilst walking uphill, and having to keep stopping. Having endless sore throats, but still sucking lozenges and forcing myself to carry on smoking, it was crazy. The money it was taking up too, no:fun having to keep finding £70 a week for all that crap!! Work out how much you spent a week, and make sure you treat yourself to something each week, it doesn’t have to cost what the smoking did, but it really helps you keep motivated, and lovely to have something nice, even if it’s a small treat. Keep focussed .
  5. Hi Linda life does suck in the early days of quitting, it really does take all our focus and determination to stay quit, and you have to really really want it more, than you want to smoke. I kept telling myself, no one was making me quit, it was my choice, and if I smoke, I know I will regret it, and then I would have had to start again. Hang on to what you have , do anything to preserve your quit. Have a cry, have a walk, go on YouTube and read about people with stage four lung cancer or emphysema. Put some music on and dance like no one is watching! Eat something, read everything here. I know it’s tough, but just try to steer your thoughts elsewhere, and it will pass. Breath deeply. Stay here chatting, it really helps. x
  6. Thank you Cbdave

  11. Thanks guys for all your messages, and loving the cat pics awwww.....wants them all...
  12. Getting used to a new life not smoking is very strange, it’s like a bereavement at first. I was really tearful, then there’s the anger that you can’t smoke, while others do! It all takes time, but then you will start to feel sorry for the smokers, and see it’s not that they get to smoke, but Have To, to stop them from going into uncomfortable withdrawals. you are doing great, stay determined.
  13. I am thinking of you, the first few weeks are tough. Are you on patches? They can cause sleep disturbance and really weird dreams! I was the opposite, I was like a zombie, and going to bed at children’s times! I would be yawning alll day. Have you tried listening to sleep relaxation music on YouTube, it really helps you to relax. Watch a film you enjoy or read a book you e been wanting to read for ages, it can take your mind off what’s troubling you. have a warm bath, with lots of nice bubbles and music. Try not to,worry and just pamper yourself, these times will get better in time. I agree with Doreen, if smokers start to ignore you and not be as friendly, it’s because they don’t like losing a smoking buddy, and don’t want to listen to someone saying they have quit, as it makes them feel guilty. I noticed my sister didn’t visit as much as she used to, because she didn’t want to stand outside on her own to smoke, and it brings it home, that they too should quit, but they don’t want to. stay strong , life will get better.
  14. ^ Great film
  15. Thank you so much guys. I’m feeling a bit emotional today, can’t believe it’s been 3 years now. I,m so grateful for this place and all you guys on the journey with me, coming here regularly to read, give and receive support has really really helped me stay on track (excuse the pun lol) I don’t like the number 3 haha, be it when I was 3 weeks, or 3 months, now it’s 3 years! Looking forward to seeing the numbe r 4 haha. I look and see how much money I haven’t spent and it overwhelms me, and also how much better my health is, even though I’m still downing too many bags of popcorn! Just got rid of the last of the Christmas chocolates, so a great time to maybe concentrate now and try and lose a bit of weight! 2 stone would be great! my ticker is a day ahead of itself, but not going to mess with it again, after all the hassle I had changing it last time. im ready to start year 4 now, and positive I will never smoke again, anyway they stopped selling my favourite menthol cigarettes last year , along with other flavoured cigarettes. I was so glad as I could never smoke a non menthol, to me they tasted disgusting, the menthol somehow made them more bearable and less harsh.... anyway. Babbling now lol..... it’s sooooooooooooo GOOD TO BE FREE. x Jillar, could you take that day off my ticker, it’s playing with my OCD lol x

  24. Welcome to the train hollyleaf and great going on your Five days smokefree, the worst week almost done. stay determined and it will get easier, slowly but surely. I found relaxing sleep music on YouTube helped me a lot or calm sounds of nature, like the sea or rain . pamper yourself, and give yourself regular treats to keep you motivated. You will surprised how quick the days will start to go. come here as much as you can and read everything, and watch the Joel Spitzer videos, they are so helpful. all the best to you.
  25. Congrats Mona on 9 months. That’s something to jump up and down about!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
