Congratulations on taking your life back!! Hooray! 6 months free from the chains!! I know alot of us felt a brain fog/laziness in our early quit. There is also what we call No Man's Land(you find lots on that if you type it into the search glass at the top of the main page); a time when the quit excitment is gone but you are still trudging thru the mental hurdles. You nees to get back the excitment of loving the quit! Embrace it and take it out on a nice date! Try something new; something you maybe didn't like doing as a smoker because you've changed and the new non-smoking you might like different things. Maybe start a small exercise every morning for a boost? If you feel something is odd or wrong with you tho; I'd see a dr. to rule out anything medical. To me, it sounds like a mental block...keep pushing thru; make a daily goal to clean one closet a day or to walk around the block before dinner...something small but doable. Hope I helped some (I tend to ramble)...let us know how you are getting along, stick around and you will get tons of support and knowledge along the way!! Congrats again

Thanks for the update and your honesty, ChosenFreedom! Sleep might just be what you need to heal right now...you can get back on track soon but right now in your early quit is time for YOU. Be selfish in taking care of yourself...don't sweat the small stuff! In your case of not feeling well, I would keep juice handy to signal the body to release blood sugar. Fasting will cause low blood sugar and that sick to the stomach feeling. Just keep giving smoky thoughts a big! fat! NOPE! You're doing great, keep reading about nicotine addiction (even the boring stuff) to reinforce your choice to be a non-smoker! Hooray day 4!

Put out my last cigarette the night of May 13th 2017 and woke up a non-smoker Mother's Day the 14th...so that's a year and a half of sweet freedom!! (or almost 2 years as I like to think about it) I freaking love! love! love! my new smoke free life! Something going on in my life...my husband finally has a day job and it's been really nice finally having help with the kids in the evening. And, now that he's quit too; I get double the rewards?

Congratulations on deciding to quit again Michelle!! Please put yourself on the top of the list of why you want to quit. While the promise you made to your sister is important; YOU are the most important part of the quit process. I do not have experience with NRT patches, so I can't help in knowing if you will experience too much of the withdrawal process on them. But, as Sazerac suggested, get your quit plan together now, so you are not second guessing yourself when you get to your destination...it will be easy to give yourself an out in a new environment/stressful travel situation. This can be your final quit. Just stop putting those nasty things in your mouth...and never take another puff. Rinse and repeat. You CAN do it!
-
@johnny5 Thank you for your guidance and encouragement...you are a inspiration and a great mentor. I enjoy your outlook on the quit life ? thanks for all you do here; we all really appreciate you!! Now, it's time to pa-har-tay!! Put a little pep in your step today, friend! 4 years is a great achievement!

That's how it was here! We ended up w 6in (some places 12in drifts) but...? all gone now. Have fun, stay safe and warm!!

Nope!! I'm intrigued! We have chicken flavor crackers but not chips.

The holidays will be so much better without missed moments for smoking!!(and all the stress of thinking you could hide it) You might need family around more than you think as you just experienced a close loss. I know your parents make you nuts, so take your breaks still...make an excuse to go out to the garage and scream into a pillow...go out in the yard and see if you can find a good stick? Enjoy EVERY. SINGLE. MOMENT. with those grandkids and don't let anyone stop you from giving them all the love and attention they deserve. I'm a little sad I will miss out on the sticky buns. (your husband enjoys them the most, I bet?) Get sassy if you have to...sometimes people get used to walking all over us and won't stop until we stand up for ourselves. My mother in law is like that with her daughters and expected she could give me the same treatment when I married her son, but I set boundries real quick. Now, she doesn't "tell me" to do anything; she asks politely when she talks to me The holidays are just another part of the quit...the things we have to learn to do as a non-smoker and we will do it together!

I saw this on your blog: "And i love this discussion group I want to contribute something good to this forum" It made me think you should head over to the celebrations page and help cheer everyone on! It feels so good to see someone you've been on board with make their milestones and it helps keep the excitement in your own quit (when you start feeling dull) It might spark a little jealousy at first because it will seem like everyone is farther along than you, but it will motivate you to keep your own quit so you can see Jo post your one month soon! -
welcome to the lido deck Kelly is 1 year smoke free!

Congratulations!! How exciting!! It feels so good, huh? Do you love it? Tell us more, tell us more!! What's the reward for this awesome achievement? Wear that quit with pride! You've earned it!! -
When you start feeling that way (romancing) run thru the list H.A.L.T-- are you hungry, angry, lonely, tired? These are big "triggers" that cause smoking thoughts.
-
Congratulations on quitting!! It's the absolute best thing you will ever do for yourself and you kid!! This is called "romancing" the cigarette. Your nicotine receptors are dying and crying for anything to get more drugs. For the longest time, you let nicotine dictate when you were happy by the dopamine release that comes in the first drag. (If you remember cigarettes taste awful) now you are probably missing that feeling. This is where the rewards system comes in. Chocolate, sex, exercise will all release the feel good chemicals your brain is craving. Find a reward.that works for you Also, eat small snacks during the day to keep your blood sugar up (this will also help with moodswings from low blood sugar) Just remember! YOU are in control! Those are not cravings, they are memories from when you use to smoke and now you don't; so don't give them any more time to make you crazy. Just say "NOPE! I'm a non-smoker!" And find something else to do to redirect brain activity. Anyway....welcome to the train! There is so much great information here! Read everything you can on nicotine addiction, set your mind to it and just do it!!

Wise words from a battle hardened woman!! (And a beautiful quit to boot)

Selling a "highend" lifestyle https://www.engadget.com/2018/11/14/british-american-tobacco-tastemakers-dunhill-ahead-kent/?ncid=txtlnkusaolp00000621 "To survive [tobacco companies] have got to get new smokers, because they're killing globally 6 million people a year," she said. "Those are smokers they need to replace in order to carry on making profits." This sh** makes me so mad...I hate that I wasted so much time and money and life on this crap. I'm sad for those still smoke (especially those that claim they love it). I want to take lies and denial covering their eyes, but I can't....only they can. But! I'm so glad I saw the light! I'm thankful the train is here to keep picking up new passangers that want their freedom back! Wear those quits with pride! 2days, 3 weeks, 6months, it doesn't matter! WE are fighting the good fight! Feel good about that!
