  1. Hip hooray, Mac!! Turn off the politics, and turn up your favorite song!! I hope you do reward yourself...even something small; a moment to remember how awesome you are for finally putting yourself first. I hope you have a good 7 month day!! Congratulations
  2. Congratulations guys!! Keep growing and learning...keep finding that strength inside yourself : Keeps these thoughts in your battle bag...this is how you win the war. We're all really proud of you guys. We love seeing people beat this terrible addiction. Keep fighting the good fight, guys! We've got your backs!
  3. This was my entire first half of my quit! I redirected my smoking thoughts with chocolate Congratulations on trying again, Opah! You know the drill...stop putting the dang things in your mouth and lightning them on fire!
  4. Hip hooray 5 months!! We see you putting in the hard work JohnQ! Keep climbing that rope, you're close to halfway thru your first year quitting That's a reason to celebrate!! We're all really proud watching your quit grow...KTQ!!
  5. Congratulations 4 freaking years already!! How the time is flying by!! I hope you still remember your rewards...4 years definitely deserves a celebration!! Happy quitiversary to you
  6. We had blue jays in our tree this year...they are lucky they are so pretty because they are the nosiest birds I have ever heard!! We don't have magpie's here, we have crows but from what I understand they are very intelligent.
  7. Congratulations Layla 2 months is awesome!! Remember to reward yourself for this achievement, and tell yourself "This is my reward for my awesome 2 months of not smoking!" You have to reinforce the positive Love your quit to keep your quit!
  8. Sounds fun quitting is a powerful life lesson if you let it in and really use it; it sounds like you are!! We found the financial courage to buy a house after we quit, we also took a 401k we had stopped putting money into and split it up in to college saving accounts for the kids. My husband also started college classes...we wouldn't have done any of this without the inner strength we found when we quit... I say no way on the tobacco stock...cannabis will be soaring once TX legalizes tho
  9. Congratulations You are loved, Saz May I have this dance?
  10. One thing that helped me was to completely separate my quit from everything else. Your quit is the one thing in your life that you CAN control. It's your baby...you wouldn't throw your baby off a cliff because you had a bad day! Quite the opposite; you would love it more because you realize how precious it is. Good for you to look for support than to smoke again, it shows great strength and that you want to keep your quit. Keep coming around; lots of good support and information around here. Congratulations on 89 days of taking your life back, keep breathing in that good air Matt!!
  11. Time to shine your armor and sharpen you sword, warrior... another battle to fight!! We will be behind you in spirit and prayer for the best possible outcome. Keep your chin up, Kathleen... we're here if you need us
  12. No way!! You have a week! He's young, teach him a new name.. you move, change your identity, dye your hair...dye his hair?? ....BOom! New life, new dog! Give him good scritches for us...he's Soo fluffy cute!!
  13. Not me, but my mom: Excuse: Everyone dies sometime...I could get hit by a bus crossing the street! Truth: Yes, but you're not paying that bus to kill you.
  14. Excuse: That smoking is who I am and I won't know what to do with myself when I quit. Truth: My quit was a beautiful metamorphosis into becoming the real me. Nicotine rots your brain; it restricts your movements to places where you can smoke and makes anything outside of that unbareably uncomfortable. Now, I'm FREE to do anything, to finally be me, to love me...what a wonderful feeling
  15. I'm not a Dr, but Omeprazole is what really helps with my reflux...I used to go thru a bottle of tums a day until I was told I have gerd. I also have a retention cyst so I use Flonase (you can get it in store brand much MUCH cheaper) and it helps with my nasal problems. It could be just coincidence that the problems became more obvious when you quit smoking or it could be that smoking was masking them. I wouldn't connect the two tho. I kept my quit separate from everything; it was precious so I put it on a pedestal. Be careful about romancing the cigarette... This is how "maybe just one" happens...stay on guard!! Keep taking care of yourself, keep coming here to vent the bad days away...that's how you keep your quit!! I hope you feel better soon!
  16. Congratulations Cbdave! Thanks for everything you do around here...if there's one thing any addict needs, it's a steadfast confident voice of reason. You're that NOPE for those that need it and we appreciate it. I hope you celebrate today
  17. We're under there I just made you say "underwear"!!
  18. @Rozuki!! How wonderful!! I'm so happy for you!! You deserve all the happiness in the world I hope for a quick sale on your house and an easy move
  19. Hey Kate... sounds like a good night to start your plank challenge Sorry your having a bad night...I always had the thought that even non-smokers have bad days too...we have to learn to get thru the suck without the crutch. These moments are how the good quits are made, they are forged in the fires of our lives... they're made stronger with every battle we win. You are a powerful woman who just happens to be having a hard time...we all do, but we see the warrior in you; don't let a moment of weakness take that power from you
  20. Jo's...I love boobies
  21. Congratulations Mac! Keep climbing that rope! It's always wonderful to watch someone who wants it...to watch them pull themselves up thru the storms, to see the sun on their face as they make it out of the clouds. It's fun to watch you quit, Mac...we can't wait to meet you on the lido, friend I hope you feel a little bit of proud of yourself today... you've earned it!
  22. Welcome, and congratulations on the best decision you'll ever make. I didn't quit using an NRT, but many on this board have and I'm sure they will have lots of information to share. The best armor to wear during a quit is knowledge. Know your enemy, nicotine. There is a wealth of knowledge here (the green tacks at the top of the main board) and whyquit.com
  23. Hey JohnQ, good for you!! 4 months is something to be proud of!! Keep climbing that rope, friend and you'll be on the lido deck before you know it. Reward yourself today, take some time to enjoy your new found freedom Congratulations, I hope you feel proud!
  24. 4 years already L4L!! Congratulations!! I hope you take some time to today to think about how awesome this achievement really is! We're all really happy for you! And, of course, remember your reward

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
