Newbie Party!! (Everyone's invited)
c9jane29 replied to c9jane29's topic in Quit Smoking Discussions
Cheers to you, @TobacNO and your big fat NOPE! The beginning of the quit is an emotional rollercoaster! At 9 days, I would chalk the "cravings" up to only smoking memories. You used to smoke, now you don't, and that's all. Wear that quit with pride!! I'm glad you're on the Train, TobacNo! -

@Linda Thomas is in the house!!! ((Thank you for your honesty))it is hard when the constant thoughts have you pacing. We know allll about it. Find yourself someone you can message when you need to. We love to help! I don't care if you don't party with me today; (you will someday soon) I'm just glad you are here and still smoke free! -
Happy Birthday Jo!!

This also might be a good time to really think about finding a quit buddy or accountability partner. There will come a time in your quit that you want to be left alone. We get it. But, there will also be a part of you that wishes you had someone to check in with. I wish I had found a quit buddy. I didnt think I would need one as my quit has been easy. Then my hard time came...and I truly truly wanted to reach out to someone but I didn't know how. The person that stepped into the role as my accountability partner didn't (doesn't) know what those few messages meant to me, but they put light back in my heart...just by saying hi. You will want that too, I promise. -
First of all, You guys are doing it!! I want to check in with you guys and see how everyone is doing... One thing we love around here is a quitter!! Another thing we love is talking about quitting? So, please grab a drink and some stinky cheese and tell us how you are... You know, What helps? What doesn't? What is sticking with you? How did you "survive" the first few days/week that so many others fail? You never know who could be lurking and maybe your comment (from a fresh quitter in the trenches) will be the one that helps them commit. So, congrats! And cheers to us, the ones that choose life!

((L4L)), congratulations! You were a strong voice in my early quit at the other place. I've always enjoyed your words and wisdom. I hope you feel so good your skin tingles!! Congrats again!!

It's supposed to be awesome! It's the best thing you could do for you and the people you love! Congrats Parsley!!

Nope, sounds weird to me tho, like how they used to promote phenphen or cocaine. I just use liquid B vitimins in the afternoon (after naptime) for a boost. It doesn't keep me jittery like coffee does. Just do research and talk to your dr. Congrats on KTQ Kdad?

I salute you!! Congratulations bakon! Thank you for the humor and support.

"Ma'am, did you pack your own suit case?" Dorreensfree: "Ummmm....." "No?"?

)So, what's junkie thinking telling you? That it's not worth it? It doesn't matter if you quit now because you can quit again? One drag won't hurt?...We know these lies, right? We studied and practiced our nope for this day. You ETQ right now by owning that you only feel this way because you smoked not because you quit. You acknowledge these feelings as smoking memories and simply move on. Winning these small battles are how you win the war MLMR. Eventually, your brain will stop sening you constant signals...you just have to keep pushing thru, friend. Just wanted to add, that you should try something new. I don't wear makeup dauly, but in my early quit, I loved playing with eyeshadow colors. (Since you don't want to Bob Ross with me?) Also, Linda Thomas, wisely suggested a mantra seperate from NOPE. Mine was "find something else to do". I also had a visulation of a light switch in the off position(in my minds eye); that meant my smoking lamp was off and smoking is not an option at the moment. Sorry so longwinded MLMR, but I want to fill your box with tools, even if you don't use/need them because I want you to succeed!

Do I have a ticker? I can't ever see anyone else's either. There was a way to choose desktop view choice on the homepage (on my phone) but I can't find that either?

Happy Birthday MQ!! We are all very grateful to have this safe place...what a wonderful thing to help people quit smoking! Thank you... Cheers!!

Set a quit date (circle it on your calander) Make your quit plan (how do escape "craves") Get your quit supplies ready. Get your mind right. Start now, "I'm going to quit smoking on ______." "I am going to be a non-smoker." Learn and read about nicotine addiction and the changes it made in you mind and body to help rationalize and understand the quit process. Understand there is no middle ground after you quit...NOPE. One=all. I hope you commit to your quit! It really is a wonderful, life changing process that grows with you everyday.

I will tell you, Sierra, the only way to quit smoking is to never put another cigarette in your mouth...ever. Make a quit plan. Get your stuff together...juice, water, hard candies, DO NOT DISTURB sign and ride it out. It's the only way and while your on your train ride; you read and learn about nicotine addiction. (You will learn all about "the pull"= LIES)

The Stupid things smokers do !!!!
c9jane29 replied to Doreensfree's topic in Quit Smoking Discussions
Getting drunk at a party and drinking from the beer butt can...then smoking a cigarette to get rid of the taste. The dumbest thing smokers do is smoke and continue to smoke even against our primal urge for survival...- 14 replies

Thanks for reaching out Linda Thomas!! Junkie thinking can pop up any time; that's why, as addicts, we must remain forever vigilant and practice at our quit everyday. I saw a lady smoking in her truck at a stop light once and looked in the cup holder for mine...does that mean I want one? NOPE. Fleeting thoughts from dying connections is all they are, smoking memories. Linda Thomas, you are doing great! I found some flowers in that suitcase I think you might like...

Sleeplessness is very common; I learned not to force trying to sleep or I would lie there getting madder and madder...but, like a true newborn in my quit, I slept when I could, ate when I wanted, cried if I needed. Take it slow and go easy on yourself.

@Linda Thomas I bought cheap icing that was toooo sweet, but the cakes were perfect fluff? Man, @jillar! I was all stoked about this cake and you have to come tell me it's kids stuff? As soon as she saw it, she said "Its just like my rainbow heart!!" (bloodflow ultrasounds)
