  1. Sending in my crew @Doreensfree! What do you need??
  2. "Smellatizing" is a great description! Congratulations Dragonsfancy!! Keep on climbing; we're all here to cheer you on! And, remember your reward!
  3. I LOVE IT!! Linda Thomas, tell me in the last...? 10 years think you would say this?? Now that they are safe at the casino; buy a space heater (to heat up your husbands booty) and have some fun! How long has it been since you played strip poker? Nice glass of wine on a chilly RV night? I'm sure husband is ready for a reward too! (I'm only kidding a little) but just make sure to take care of YOU too. I'm glad you're here, too?
  4. Hello @DragonsFancy!! I wanted to check in on you and see how you are feeling. 2 weeks tomorrow, huh?! Are you kitten me? That's meowsome!!

Welcome @Mel!! Yes, please, circle Monday with a big red circle and get excited!! Make a quit list of all the reasons you want to quit, and put yourself at the top! You. You are the most important part of the quit. Your mindset and commitment will determine how easy/hard it will be. Get your snacks, and distractions, start reading all about nicotine addiction and the changes its made to your mind and body. Education is a very important part. A blind quit is like building a house from the roof down...it won't have a leg to stand on, but an educated quit will stand on a firm foundation. Hope to hear from you on Monday Mel!!
  6. I am glad and proud and happy I don't have to fly to Holland to kick you carrot butt!! You are still young in your quit; these thoughts happen. One old nicotine receptor dying, creating memories that perk up another receptor (that begins anticipating nicotine) and like one baby crying; they all start because junkie thinking has you in a weak moment. But, here's the beauty, you know the lies, the tricks and stolen moments so you have the defenses to fight back! Your quit will be strong and beautiful being forged in the fires of real life...
  7. You know you really don't want to smoke!! Have you went thru HALT? Run thru the house screaming if you need to, MLMR, my friend, but please don't smoke! I know you are stronger than this!
  8. Getting cold here too! Snow on Sunday! Be safe, Linda Thomas, on the road and with your quit! We're here if you need us. Love on your husband and enjoy your time together.
  9. Congratulations Christa! Be proud of yourself! We're here if you need us
  10. Still climbing! A quit doesn't stop at the lido deck. I want to be close to the newbies incase they need extra cheers!!
  11. Hip hooray! I love rewards! Daily/small task rewards=chocolates, hard candies, nice tea/coffee/beer Monthly/anniversaries=nice dinner, haircut +style, new socks/undies, Doesn't have to be something big every time, but always tell yourself "This is my reward for xxx" to really reinforce the good behavior association with the dopamine release. Try new things! The new you might like new things!! (It was mentioned above but I'll also throw out that sex is the best release of dopamine, oxytocin, and endorphins. And, like I said, try new things?)
  12. Keep it up Kdad! Quitting gave me the motivation to change other areas of my life too. It's a good feeling to know that you are worth it! Thanks for checking in?
  13. It is! But, mostly just from bloating due to diet changes, underlying stomach conditions being aggrivated by high fat diet, stress ( nudge-nudge) Keep blaming the dog or the husbands if you're in public?
  14. A good quit just feels sooo goooood!! Glad you are doing well Christa!
  15. Past 72 hours now!! How are you feeling? Take it easy as your mind and body are still healing...and remember your rewards!!
  16. Take it easy, your mind will be a mile a minute with every thought imaginable. Just tell junkie thoughts NOPE and find something else to do.
  17. Yea!! My hubs on vacation too, but we're doing our honey-do list? Go have fun with no missed moments!
  18. Yes!! Please jump on board! I've noticed alot of new accounts but nothing attached so if you're lurking at least that means you are reading...introduce yourself anytime this is not good information. It is a drug addiction. You are addicted to the drug nicotine and the habit of smoking (gum chewing) to recieve it. Please continue to read the posts that are pinned to the top of the board; they are full of the correct information that might help you understand drug use and addiction. Smoking is not like having MRSA.
  19. How exciting!! Keep this fire in your belly Lilly!
  20. 1. Education! On! Addiction! (Nicotine is a drug and you are an addict) 2. I fell in love love love with my quit. (This wonderful, beautiful piece of me that shows my strength and self worth) I never quit in the past, only abstained for as long as I had to until I could smoke again.
  21. Great post Jo! I kept myself from doing alot of things due to fear based thinking, but having the courage to quit opened me up to trying alot of new things. Not any more! I'm glad you're feeling good in your quit Jo; you've fought hard for it!
  22. Congratulations friend!!
  23. Fixed it for you? Celebrate every win!
  24. I learned not to force sleep or I would lie there for hours making myself crazy! Sometimes, I would just wait it out and catch two 2 hour naps on the couch at night. I promise there is light on the other side...just keep telling yourself that you're doing good and that you are a non-smoker!! Keep the rewards flowing, remember to take regular breaks, snack to keep blood sugar normal. It doesn't feel like it now, but this really is the best thing you can do for yourself and the people that love you. We have your back T4C!!
  25. This made me giggle! but it's probably a great idea to have an actual visualization of your toolbox?? Make a quit list of all the reasons you want to quit and put it in there too!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
