  6. Good on you, @Reflexology! Keep the positive outlook, it will be your best support! The only way to quit smoking is to stop putting cigarettes in your mouth...easy as that.
  7. Thank you guys so much! I tried to treat myself...I got one of those new Coconut Dr. Peppers and YUCK! It was like a mouthful of sun tan oil not for me! And we went to my oldest son's band concert, and saw a friend that moved 10yrs ago but we lost contact with. It was a good night. I'm still doing Girl Scouts, and started school last fall to get my BS in Elementary Education. I should have done it 20 yrs ago The kids are big, I have a teenager...Lord help me. He is the same age as when I started smoking, but at least he has a parent that will talk to him about the dangers rather than buy his first pack like my parents did. Quitting changed my life...I'm grateful for my second chance
  8. Hip hooray! Lucky 7! Thank you, @jillarillar for the shout out! Quitting is still the single best thing I have ever done for myself. Thank you @Lust4Life2016! Can you believe 7 years already? You too, huh? Or is it 8 for you? Either way congrats to all of us for taking back our lives!

Six years of freedom!! How the time flies... I remember being a smoker. Just me in disguise. A cloak of darkness, spreading lies. One day you will realize, In the end... You are the prize. Congratulations to all the quitters!!

  19. Thanks @reciprocity!! I had a great day! I still love my quit! Every day I'm happy I quit smoking; it's still hands down the best thing I've ever done for myself. I do love glitter and Britney Spears...I'll throw in a little Bob Ross and really get this party started
  20. Hip hooray, Layla! 4 months already!! You've made it thru the holidays and now will bring in the new year as a non-smoker! You are awesome!!

  22. Congrats Kate18!! That one year is coming up fast! KTQ!
  23. I missed it too!! How exciting Angeleek!!! We're ready to have you in the one year club! We are so proud of your hard work, it pays off! I hope you remembered your reward...maybe we dancing shoes because you're on your way to your lido deck party!
  24. Welcome Back, SamDy! We're always here to support, but it's up to you to do the work! The rules haven't changed, once you quit you become a non-smoker...let that become your mantra when the stinking thinking creeps in. "NOPE! I'm a non-smoker now!" Then find something else to do. I used chocolate in the beginning as a supplement to redirect my brain, it also mimicked the blood sugar/dopamine spike nicotine gives us...that happy feeling. It helps to know your enemy... google every thing about nicotine; find out how it's hijacked your brain. It has basically changed your brain to override the human nature of survival. Crazy. Read, read, read. An educated quit, a smart quit is a strong quit. You will always be a nicotine addict, but knowing that you never want to use again is powerful. I noticed some red flags in the way you present your quit: "It's like I want to quit but when I quit, I don't want to quit." "I love with 4 smokers, so it won't be easy by any means. " This is the addiction already creating outs for you to fail. You have to speak your quit into existence. I will quit! I want to quit! There is a while train here that knows you can do it. We were once all hopeless cases of the worst smokers that could never quit; we all loved smoking, etc. UNTIL we found freedom and found out it's all a pack of lies we sucked down from the butts of little liars 20 at a time. You'll find that freedom too if you take the time to get to know the real SamDy. She doesn't want to smoke, and she'll be a stronger more powerful woman when you quit.
  25. You just have to want your quit more. Your quit is what you put into it.. it's the best most selfish thing you ever get to do for yourself. You get to do it your own way! There is no wrong way, but the only way is to never put another cigarette in your mouth ever again. That's the only rule, the secret, the magic...NOPE. Take this time to mourn, grow up and out of you smoking life, emerge as a new non-smoking butterfly and just say goodbye. Get educated on nicotine addiction; understand the chemical changes that you are going thru to help you cope with the early withdrawal. Learn about HALT (Are you Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired?) You can quit, friend. You just need to get your head in the right place and understand that smoking does nothing for you.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
