Hello Ron glad to have you aboard. I too smoked for 44 years and just recently quit (5 1/2 weeks to this point) and I am really beginning to see the benefits. Sounds like you quite a bit along with your quit --- congratulations. I too am not an advocate of NRT, I went cold turkey and glad I did (I like your NNN). It can be done and to be honest I think you get through the hard part easier. When you use NRT you kind of only delay the inevitable. Lots of good people here that are willing to share and give help anytime.

Hi Evelyn. Like Octain I am relatively new to this forum and to my quit and I agree with him in that it is tough but it is doable. Also I completely agree with Peace Train. You have to take smoking completely off the table and no longer an option of any kind. There are some tough times but as I found out over the last 5 1/2 weeks is that it can be done with patience, belief in yourself, and coming here for research, help, and to talk with others who know what you are going thru.

Welcome Bonnie, Good for you for taking that first step. Read and do research on this forum it will be of great help. Also remember the NOPE pledge, it really does get you through the day to make that commitment for 1 day to yourself. And remember we are all here to help you along the way, everyone here has given me that help. -

Big, welcome. You can do this just remember the NOPE pledge each day. Lots of people here to help and a lot of information on this forum that will help you, take time to read and it will help you greatly. I smoked for over 40 years and like Octain I am now 1 month in and getting stronger each day.

NOPE --- And to Octain Happy 1 Month of quit -- way to keep to the NOPE pledge

Bakon is right --- NOPE --- it does work. Take some deep breaths, a glass of cold water and remember why you are quitting. It is doable, I am only 1 month in on my quit and I smoked for over 40 years over a pack a day. You can get through this.

Thank you all, in all the years I never thought I would be here, who would have thunk. The journey is just beginning but the light along the way is much brighter now.

I hear what you say. I believe that making the quit you have to be honest with your self for the hard work to quit really sticks. If you do have other "chemical" addictions sometimes nicotine is the last one you give up. Also you have to look at how many cigarettes you had each day to the amount or use of other "chemicals" that were used. In my recent quit I have gone cold turkey, and not using any other substances (NRT, alcohol, weed, even coffee) in fact most of those items would have been a strong trigger for me. As I said I get what you say that "I quit smoking" may not be the entire story but if you are true to yourself then that is the important thing and will make you stronger in your quit.
