  1. Well that just destroyed my special plans for the future
  2. Yes Katie good to hear from you again
  3. NOPE!!!!!!!
  4. At this point in my quit I cannot understand how I or anyone else would pay this much money only to make our lives worst, what addiction can do to you while under the influence. Just another reason to enforce saying NOPE everyday.
  5. Well at this point I have not been in the quit long enough to have huge savings but I am seeing a definite financial benefit. Since I am retired and on the so called "fixed" income I am now seeing money still in the bank at the end of the month since quitting. Out here cigarettes are $8.30 a pack so there is significant savings there. At the rate I smoked it is almost a $300.00 savings per month. If I can save enough I may take some kind of trip at my one year mark. With your post it is something I am going to strongly look at.
  6. NOPE!!!!!!!
  7. Octain we look to moving to the Lido deck after that

  9. Awesome Pumpkin, you are helping to show the way.
  10. Welcome Lee, glad to have you aboard. What everybody says above is absolutely true. This can be done. DO a lot of reading and research on this sight there are many helpful articles. I have said this once before -- do the NOPE pledge daily on this forum, it may seem hokey but for me it really does work -- it is more of a commitment to yourself.
  11. NOPE!!!!!!!
  12. Been saying this every day for a little over six weeks and by golly-gee I think it is working so I will say again NOPE!!!!!!!
  13. ^^^^^ I do not have an answer, like you I can only wonder.
  14. Thanks for this post Jet, gives me a lot to think about and what I have been thinking. I have found on this forum I have to talk the talk and in turn that makes me want to walk the walk. The main reason that is successful for quitting is usually that we want to quit for ourselves not for others and I feel that is true. But we do need others along the way to help us see that it can be done -- those that understand us and the feelings, craves and the roller coaster that we go on -- That is why I come to this forum, It helps me keep going.
  15. NOPE!!!!!!!
  16. Hey BTR, it is good to have you back. I think you have come across a major milestone and that is the belief in NOPE -- Not One Puff Ever. NOPE is so important in your quit and all you have to do is make that pledge each day. I thought at first it seemed a little hokey but that simple phrase has helped me so much. Coming on here each day and making that pledge helps keep me accountable and see the realization that smoking has to come off the table completely. I happy that you are not giving up on your quit and that you have the new resolve. Realize we are not here to judge but to help you through this journey, we are each going through it at the same time. We might be at different stages of the journey but we all know what it is like. Keep it going you can do this.
  17. Hello and welcome to the forum. Yes I would say the same as Doreen, too much nicotine. I quit just about 6 weeks ago and I had smoked for 44 years and I went cold turkey. It was hard but it was not as hard as I thought it would be. Sometimes the hardest thing about quitting smoking is the "fear" you build up about it. Once you conquer that fear each day you begin to see that it can be done. Just do this one day at a time, come here at least once a day and make the "NOPE" pledge (it really does help), do some research, and reach out to others and you will find that it is doable. Come on along for the ride and you will find that it is one the best journey's you will ever take.
  18. NOPE!!!!!!
  19. Fantastic Jet, you are doing great.
  20. Mine was a little tough today but I am making it through the day. It is the dreams man the dreams, so vivid -- In fact I felt guilty yesterday morning since the dream was so real I thought I had broken my quit. Lots of deep breathing, reading here and researching and sticking to NOPE and realizing the triggers can come from where you least expect.
  21. Welcome WoW, I completely agree with reciprocity states, going smoke free of all is the way to go. I know it is tough but is doable and can be done -- just believe in your self, read and research here, and ask us anything -- we are here to support you. I only wished I had made the decision at the age you are making yours. Remember the NOPE pledge and you can do this.
  22. Actually the original "Thing" from the 1950's was the first scary movie I remember watching. The Exorcist overall is the scariest movie I have seen. I have actually been to the outdoor staircase in the movie where one of the priest's met his demise, a very scary place to be after midnight (the things I did and places I have been while in the military).
  23. NOPE!!!!!!
  24. Way to go Latoya --- Congrats
  25. NOPE!!!!!!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
